Noticed a few articles that Big Chief has been recently running his Crowmod at NHRA events at the invitation of NHRA and no doubt appearance money paid by NHRA too....

Was always going to happen when this show started making these guys the biggest names in drag racing.

That type of racing is about the only thing keeping Willowbank alive atm. I'm 100% against street racing and 110% against any form of promoting it. So should the tracks and sanctioning bodies be.

$$$ wins in the end ::)
With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

Majority of people  (self included) probably agree with you about street racing.

The upside of the show Street Outlaws is the rise in popularity of no prep 1/8th mile racing events in a legal controlled environment.
Back to its roots type racing. Heads up run what ya brung.

Professional drag racing has always been difficult to package for tv to appeal to the casual viewer. The group 1 stuff is something you need to see up close live to appreciate. Not to mention explaining how group 2, 3 & 4 work.

Street Outlaws appeal seems to come from the different cars running heads up and the stories behind the cars and drivers. The 'illegal' part seems to play a smaller story as the show has continued. I don't mind the show (yes its scripted), but I can't stand the Farmtruck 'fishing' stuff.

NHRA have obviously taken notice that crowd attendance and TV numbers have been declining over the years, but the TV  show has proven there is still big interest in drag racing. Hopefully means a bit of a mini overhaul to how things are  done.

I've been watching a bit of the Outlaw Nitro Funny Car series run over here. Looks really good. The cars look wicked cool, a short fast paced program over 1 afternoon / evening and Chicago Shootout format that means no cars are put back in the trailer after a lose.
The crowd numbers look pretty reasonable and with a bigger tv budget (fta tv) the tv package could be a real winner.

Thread revival. This took a lot longer than planned to build with other "adulting" priorities. None the less it's finally done bar a tune up and some shakedown passes when things open up (And I can get home)

This popped up on the drag racing history page yesterday.
Worth the watch, some big names in the clip.

We are in at the 6 minute mark with the '37 Fiat. (Not one of the big names)
Friggin trans-brake button failed.

We went pre-stage on the normal brake, then drop to full stage and it just rolls the beams..... NOT HAPPY.
Still had a little drive though.
Couldn't happen during qualifying when you could fix it before eliminations...... oh no.
Had to happen in round 1.

Mrs Jeepers seemed to get the cameraman's attention though.

Pretty fast for a Shitty old 6 Falcon engine.

Go the Barra.

Tony Bellert drops a number with his Barra powered rail in Super Comp qualifying, 6.28 at 226MPH.

And that would be into a headwind also, wouldn't it? ???

So long as you have tried your best, you should have no regrets.

Jeepers Creepers

Yeah, sort of 45 degree angle/ish.

Can play havoc with parachutes in the deep end too.

Makes it the fastest barra in the world..... so pretty friggin cool.
