It has happened to us before too.   Camped on a beach up the Cape, 8-10 Kms of beach no one else in any direction. Another group turns up and sets up tent 25 mts away.  >:(
Unbeknown to them, they were camped on top of a minefield

That is about 10 days worth of our well laid crapmines. :D under their tent, in their dining room and everywhere they walked around their camp.

My goodness
That mental image has me terrified of going to sleep.  I showed it to my wife, and she simply said she now understands why some black women marry white men.

Last year we  had a cahct up at Binbere Hut in the high cuontry . Friday arvo set up ,through the night many rolled in to join us . On Sat morn a lone CT arrived with 2 couples in a 4X4 they set up at the very far end of the camp area . At least 500m away from our lot ( must have been warned ) then went for a drive . While they were away a horse riding group advance party arrived . Setting up the electric fence for the horses , bonfire , chucked out 30 swags & started to cook dinner for the soon to be arriving riders .
Upon there return the lone CT was in the middle of a village that had poped up in the time they were away . The look on their faces was just ,,,had to be seen . We on the other hand had a wonderful time around our camp fire  >:D

It happened to us in a national park once when a young couple started setting up in the middle of our camp.  Do you think it was too much that I made him cry before they packed up to leave?

muzza01

Nope, I hope you offered him a tissue. ;D

It is okay Jeepers, a few years back we had a couple of naturalists camping at Lake Gregory.  They thought we were laughing at them because of their bodies or whatever.  The next morning they were fully dressed, in the Mulan Clinic, looking for medical assistance.  I guess they had not allowed for all the sand flies and mosquitoes.  For some reason they were not naturalists the following night.

I feel for anyone who camps "ontop" of our campsite. My kids are good kids but I won't be shy if they misbehave. Act like a house-o. I reckon they will move on the next morning. As said if you like camping hard up against another camper go to a caravan park. The natural outdoors is not for hearing your neighbours having "special" time lol

Or when you're fishing up a creek in the tinny, no other bugger around for miles, and some clown motors up and pretty much drops his anchor over your lines???? Some people really need a good slap in the ear!! >:(

Reminds me of the day we were out in the trailer sailer anchored off one of the islands in the bay and about to have lunch. We sat watching this boat come sailing towards us, next thing BIL is practically off over the side pushing this boat off us. Obviously they'd never heard of a motor to avoid a collision. No mater what one does you always need eyes in the back of your head.

Cant imagine why anyone would want to camp on top of others. That is my pet hate. I would my make feelings known on the situation as well.  Some folks are like Sheep.

Had words this morning with inconsiderate campers.
We had been camped with friends in a Wollemi National Park for the last 3 nights, 2 nights ago a Silver Landcruiser towing a Bushtracker van travelling with friends with an Ulimate camper. pulls in and parked in the bay that backed on to us to us (the rest of the bays were empty) The first morning they were there  they start their generator at 7.30am. ( not happy but say nothing) This morning, 0 degrees so tucked up in bed keeping warm and generator started at 7.00am so get out of bed make a coffee,   about 15 minutes later I see the woman from the van and tell her how inconsiderate they were starting a generator at that time of the morning and that being in a National Park they shouldn't be running it anyway. She wandered off to the van and I thought that they would turn it of but just kept it running for approx another 30 minutes.

they were overheard talking about heading to Newnes so BEWARE if you are heading that way if you want to sleep in.

We have an easier method than that Kit_E.  We simply pull off the road by a couple of hundred metres, get a good clearing, check for tracks to see what creatures are around, make a smal cook fire (we carry our own wood), then have a feed, chuck down our ground sheet and blankets and start snoring.
We don't use caravan parks or formal camp sites, don't need to.

We ran into some prize arsewipes at the weekend, or to be fair, there was just one of them.

We arrived at our camping spot and the site was mostly full, there were only a few places left. We parked the trailer about 10 metres from a shared fire pit.
The nearest other caravan was about 10 m in the opposite direction, they had been using the fire and their was chairs and stuff around. No problem with that shared facilities and all that.
We  noticed there was some kids chairs, we have kids too, perfect. We thought. We moved a couple of chairs aside and arranged them round the fire and put 2 of our own there.

So we setup, built a nice fire in the shared ring, me and my mate took the kids and dog (on a lead and not barking) for a walk for a few hours. We left the wives alone in their chairs with a cup of tea each. Everyone happy.

When we got back my mates wife met us and said there was some trouble from the people who were camped near us.

Apparently they had "claimed" this fire and nobody else could use it :police:. We tried to reason with them, we tried to be friendly, but one of them was not happy at us being there. It appears he was under the impression that he had some sort of entitlement to annex parts of the park.

It's interesting to note that he never said a word to me and my mate he just sat looking unhappy, he just whinged at our wives in our absence, which speaks volumes about the man.   :cup:
So we dug another fire lined it with rocks etc and settled for the night. Had a few beers etc. Nice.

They were sitting round their "claimed" fire and we had ours. No problem to me.
They were playing some music, so were we. I walked over a few times to make sure our music wasn't too loud and you couldn't hear it when theirs was playing.

We tried to be polite, considerate, reasonable people.

The next morning after breakfast we set off with the kids and dog to play on our boat in the river. As I was getting a bottle of water from the tent I heard whingey arse saying "If someone else has a radio nobody else should have one, it's an unwritten rule"
I assumed (correctly) that he was complaining about us listening to music (which was low enough not to disturb them).

So he whines at our wives and moans about us when he thinks we are not there, getting the picture.
If our music was too loud, which I don't believe it was, would it be too hard to say "mate, can you turn that down?"  Maybe he just didn't like Neil Young.

I came out of out tent smiling to myself at the hilarity of the prick and his abrupt silence then his two "mates" both made eye-contact with me and rolled their eyes. I suspect he does this sort of thing all the time.
A wise man once said the a superior man does not engage in quarrelsome behaviour. He may have been right. 20+ years of Thai kickboxing has taught me a few other ways of dealing with people.
On this occasion I chose to heed the words of Confucius and went away to have fun with my family.

On the way home my wife told me that he had actually been verbally abusive and threatening towards them when he demanded that we were not to sit round his fire. She didn't tell my these things when we were there as she knew what would happen.

So spineless or misogynistic, or both. He ruined his own weekend for himself and his long suffering family & friends.

Why can't people just be nice?

muzza01

Geez BadSeed you are a patient man.  I don't think I could have put up with that sort of crap.  Good on you for being the better man.

Jeepers Creepers

We were at the Winternationals (Drag Racing) one year and the Top Fuel is about to run.

Mr. Ivagotnobrains, walks up the staircase to the grandstand and procedes to stand there and block the view.

Me, Mr Calm, says "Hey mate, can ya sit down, they're about to run any second" (the whole run only takes 4.5 seconds)

Mr. Ivagotnobrains, turns, gives me a dirty look and stays right there.

Me, Mr Calm, who is not happy becuse i've been beaten in round one of our bracket, says....
"HEY D!CKHEAD, FCUKIN SIT DOWN, YA FCKIN DOPE"

Mr. Ivagotnobrains, Spins around as about 10 or more spectators bellow at him to sit down.....  ;D

He left.

tbh, I learned about 20 years ago that some people try to over compensate for their weakness with macho chest beating. Knocking them out doesn't make me batman it makes me a bully.

Obviously abusing my family crosses a line.

I think I'm going to like it here.

Do be careful with that approach LOST as you never know what can come from it.
We had the same people knocking on our front door each week trying to bash us with their religion. Their mistake was I seen them trolling the area on my way home one evening, next thing their knocking on my door about bad for them its onl 15min after I got home from my work Xmas party (primed). Kids were staying the night at my parents so coast was clear. SWMBO is giving a cemetery of my doings to her GF in total disbelief. I stripped off, ducked out back door and poured a beer over myself ran to the front door and welcomed them in to my party...they've never returned...
Cut 3 years later we're buying a kitten for my daughter from a local breeder. Everything is organised, price agreed to over the phone pending on our viewing of the kittens. We go look at the kittens all is good, how ever the lady says she knows us from some where to which I agree but can't put my finger on it. SWMBO just sat there like a beetroot....she told me the good news on the way home in the car.....and it was me who had to return to pick up the daughters kitten....not sure if she worked it out  ;D
