stockman "pod" camper trailer advice

G'day guys and gals,
I am going to look at a stockman pod camper trailer tomorrow afternoon for my father.
It is the one that has a proper style tent on it.
My question is, are there any specific things to check for on these "pod" trailers? Any inherently weak points I should check? I have had a look through the old threads and can't find a bad word against them so mentioned one I noticed for sale to my old man and he is very keen.

Seems like a good bit of kit to be honest, light weight ( advantage as he only has a Nissan dualis), cheap and well looked after as far as I can tell.

We bought a POD and had the tent fitted later -
We eventually got sick and tired of getting dirty and dusty putting it up and bringing it down .. Hence the hard floor Pinnacle now -
However for sturdiness and lightness - excellent value -
Storage is the biggest problem - only 19cm under the bed to store stuff in and no kitchen ..
50L water tank and hand pump -
We had to fit a massive toolbox on the front to carry all the extra gear ..
Ours was standard road model as well and we inverted the axle to give it a bit more height for offroad..
You can quiz us on Sunday if you like ...
The gas bottle was never fitted like that as it is bloody dangerous and illegal ... Can't remember what was in that spot afterwards - Solar I think maybe ..

It is only the two of them so they don't need much. The only things that it doesn't have are the water tank and electrics.
I still haven't worked out where the spare goes though..... lol
it has a kitchen although from looking at the space in side the trailer there doesn't appear much left after the kitchen is in...

Very similar - got some good stuff on it - but storage space is the problem ...
I think for that kind of money I'd be looking for a full bodied trailer with 30-40cm of space under
the bed ... But they are a useful unit ..

From what we understand it will be about half of what it is on there.......
The lightness of the pod is what is appealing to the old man, as he is not getting any younger apparently lol
at under 5k I think it should be ok, but I havent actually seen one in the flesh (or plastic) lol
There isn't much quality on the market at under 5k really

We're 60 ish and struggled with pulling the tent out from under the lid .. Its a two person job ..
But for under 5K - its a good buy .. Ours weighed under 900 Kgs fully loaded ..
Water - 50L plus 2 X 20L jerries plus battery and food .
Did us some really good trips - around Mereenie loop , Uluru , some of the Ooodnadatta .. Mungo .. No problems
with the Pod at all ..

Well it sounds promising..
I will have to see how hard the tent is to set up as they are in their late 50's.
Hopefully it won't be too bad, although the main concern for me is the mattress. As there is no way to change to an innerspring as it folds in half.

Hey Evo, life begins in 'late 50s'!   
I'm going on 57 and have no trouble setting up / packing up my soft floor.
Certainly agree that the Pod is good for towing behind regular cars.
I was originally thinking of one for my Subaru, but couldn't justify the price for the off-road version.

Well the deal is done. Hopefully the old man will enjoy it.
Under 5k and in really good condition. The owner is a really nice guy and has looked after it really well.

Contact stockman, when I bought mine there were no dealers in south australia but the offered a money back guarantee if I wasn't happy.
I was and that was back in 2009, use it for work and put the camping gear in it to get away.

Am after a second hand one. The all Roada costs almost $7000 with 2 fuel can holders one gas rind and tool box.
