That should be in addition to Queens Birthday... To replace the stolen show day.  Also, please make Cup day state wide!

well as an avid snow bunny I can't move the queens birthday public holiday as then I would have problems on the opening of snow season.

HOWever, As first act of PM I would ADD some more public holidays. First one would be Australia is just awesome day (before cup day)
the next one would be to as requested make cup day NATIONAL and also increase it to melbourne cup MONTH.

You'll be getting votes all over the place then, November is not bad camping weather. At my work we have to work cup day as they take local show day off instead, the good thing for me is I dont work Tuesdays so get cup day anyway and the local show is on a Wednesday which is my work day win win.
