Hi all.  We have an Isatphone Pro Satellite Phone.  This is one model which won't dial 000 or 13 /1800 numbers... and which left me thinking about contacting Road Side assistance if ever it was necessary.  All the RACV info I had been able to find offered only the 13.... numbers so in desperation I rang them today.  The consultant initially spoken to had no idea but eventually, after explaining the situation put me through to a most helpful assistant who suggested that BETWEEN 8.30 am and 5 pm MON to FRI we could call 970 2211 which is the switchboard number.  Outside these hours I guess we will have to go through a police station or other service but at least we now have an option.   This info is posted to assist other swaggers.

Hi Sue,

It may be worth trying again, all 13/1300/1800 numbers terminate on a normal phone number. A lot of organisations won't give out the normal number so that they can move/change it.

Thanks Bunyip...sources tell me that +61 and then the 13 number should work...so lets hope we don't need it

All 13 and 1800 numbers have what we call a 'C' number which is a normal number then translated to the 1800 or more these days, 1300 which allows the company to set certain conditions and routing situations based on where you call from such as the call rate or location called. They should be able to give you that number.

I'd ask again and maybe ask for a supervisor and explain what you need.
