I will try it here as on another forum I got no reply.  ???

On my LX470 I have changed the driver side low beam globe for the second time in 1 month.
When I changed it before, I noticed that the spring which hold the globe in position wasn't very tight.
I bend it a bit but it still didn't hold the globe tight against its holder.
As the base is acting as the earth, is this the cause of blowing again?

Hi,
if the filament is flickering with an intermittent power supply, I would imagine this would not be the kindest treatment you could give it.
See if you can stabilise it, I have put a small dob of solder on a globe terminal to make it a tight fit, but be careful you don't over heat things and destroy the vacuum in the globe.
cheers

current fluctuation and vibration is the enemy of a quartz halogen globe........I would persist with tweaking the spring to get a better fitment and contact with the housing.
Light travels faster than sound............that's why some folks may appear bright until they speak
