Orientation of Treg Hitch

Is there any issue with turning a treg hitch upside down so that I can level the camper out.

I wouldn't think that is a good idea as you are relying on a few threads on the bolt to hold the weight. Firstly turn the hitch receiver up the other way, and if that doesn't lower it enough get a drop type hitch receiver that is lower. Costs more than turning it upside down as you suggested but is a lot safer.

I wouldnt, whilst you gain 20 or 30mm (lower) buy doing this the hitch is alot weaker in that orientation and I dont need to tell you what would happen if the nut came undone. Better off getting another tounge to suit your requirments IMO.

Steve, I think you mean the hitch, not the receiver.   If you turn the receiver upside down the wheels will point to the sky!

Yep, you're right, getting my hitches and receivers all mixed up. A bit of old age setting in i guess.

Is it worth looking at the hitch on the camper? If you need to have the tregg that low on the tug, maybe raising the hitch on the drawbar will be a better solution. Not as cheap and easy I grant you, but your hitch won't be hitting the deck as often.

Thanks for all your input everyone, much appreciated. I think I will keep it the way it should be and either look at different hitches or look at making the camper higher....

also there was a recent picture of a chinese Treg copy, where the threaded bolt came away from the rest of the unit. I guess in either orientation that scenario will end in tears, however, I am sure mounting upside down would certainly add to the chance of failure.

Why not go to the authoritative source, give Treg a call and ask them? :-)
