How old is every one and what age did you get into the 4x4 and camping scene

33 yrs old, been camping since 16, first 4x4 at 22, still can't get enough of either of them! Used to be out every weekend doing both. But don't seem to have the same amount of spare time these days.  We still get away pretty regularly though.

42...though I did go a whole year once thinking I was 37 when I was really 36, so I could be younger

I've been camping since I was a young kid, and thought I was in heaven when I met my husband as his family owned a camping store and he loved hiking, abseiling, camping etc...
We camp with our kids now every chance we can get, though like most others on here, it's a tad more luxurious now than when I was their age.

As for 4wding, I lived in the NT for a while growing up and everyone had a 4wd. If you didn't have one you couldn't get out of town, except to go to the airport.
Hubby and I picked up our first 4wd in 2009 and we haven't looked back travelling for several weeks a year with the kids, and having lots of fun close to home on the weekends too. We now actually have two 4wds, and they're both Land Rovers (we've got it bad ).

There is nothing better than the freedom of camping, and 'Monty' and 'Black Betty' help us get to some of the most amazing places on the planet, which thankfully just happen to be in our magnificent backyard

43. Camping since a kid. Camped in fairly severe conditions - on one memorable occasion bivouac in sub 0 conditions. During the night a number of our company medivaced off the side of the hill suffering exposure and frostbite. Great night of camping!

37 years....was camping from about 4, scouts for 18 years. can thank the neighbour for buying my first car being '84 4 runner, never not owned a 4wd, hate driving wifes Jetta and company 2wd hilux....although hilux does get into some interesting spots
but still prefer getting out in the swag rather than dragging the camper.

I will be 40 in several weeks and the first story my parents shared with me about camping was as a baby. My parents where out shooting (Collinsville) and I crawled out of the panel van and crawled into the bush at night, fortunately they found me after a rather frantic search......:-)
My memories are every Easter and every Christmas for the whole holidays camped at Cane Cockies Cove (The Beak) just outside Shute Harbour in the Whitsundays. Was a fantastic childhood....:-)

before that I did a bit of traveling around Oz in Aunty & Uncles VW kombi. I was like their rent a child as they never had kids till late in life so I got the benefits as aunty was high up with Qantas & they traveled the world always returning with gifts for me  .....until they started a family of their own

that just proves i am old as my eyes read differently - well i took up camping 40 years before i got my first zimmer frame

Been camping since the days of scouts and being a wee lad    as for 4wd just got myself a realish 4by this year although i did have a kia sportage some 13 years ago and discovered you couldnt take them many places....

38 years old, but lately I fell like I'm 58..........
Not getting bush enough.

I grew up in the bush in Africa so its in the blood, but I moved to be a city slicker at the age of 13 after a few stints OS with the folks.

As soon as I left school, I got back into camping and 4wdíng.
Can't get it out of me.
As they say, you can take the boy out of the bush.............etc

My son started when he was 6 weeks old and I think the daughter was about 3 months old on her first big outback trip.
They love it and so does the wife.
Life can be soooooooooooooo good sometimes.

50 yrs old. About the time where my broad mind and narrow waist are changing places
been camping since I was about 7 but only bought my first 4wd at 46. Late starter but making up for it.
