Kogan mobile phone service

Any Swaggers have experience with the Kogan mobile phone offers? They seem like a good deal, but it's apparent from other sites that there are some serious doubts about what the word "unlimited" means when applied to phone calls, texts and data downloads.

All of the telcos have a "fair use" policy.  There will always be the odd one or two who abuse the system.  And yes they are normally the ones who get all the media attention too.  Make themselves out to be martyrs.  Boo hoo.

It sure does seem like a good deal.
I ordered a Kogan SIM last week for one of our work phones.
If it turns out ok.... We will definitely be changing 5 other mobiles over.

The wife has one in her iPhone 4S and it works as well if not better than my iPhone 4 on a full Telstra Plan. Recently we stayed at Marion Bay in SA which is very rural and her download speed was twice what I was getting. Both on Telstra, doing a speed test to the same server etc. yet consistently hers was twice the download speed than mine. Wasn't happy!

I ported my number to Kogan from Crazy Johns and its been pretty good so far. I love not having to worry about excess usage and the 6g of data is heaps (even if it is charged in 1mb increments) who cares cause it's still way morethan the other providers e.g. teltsra only gives you 1.5G on a $60 plan.

I set my MIL up on Aldi, that has been good. Very good rates, I'm annoyed that my wife is now on a contract else she'd be using Aldi (Telstra) too.

Of course, when you're paying a lot less you do get less. Reaching customer service was not as easy as one would like.

The Kogan deal is cheaper than Aldi.......Kogan will only cost you $24.95 /mth if you do a 1 yr deal...

I have just signed up to Telstra again ( new Nokia 920 ) and the only reason I didn't go with Kogan was the MAYBE lack of reception while out in the bush camping........Kogan don't get full coverage from Telstra ( as well as no 4G ), but how that affects you out in the fringe areas is debatable ??.....I have a friend you has just signed up with Kogan, and is more than happy ..

If you're worried about KM/telstra 3G wholesale coverage vs straight Telstra then Boost mob is for you although a bit dearer with less download allowance. Horses for courses and yes KM have recently announced 400Mb limit a day (6Gb/month is 200Mb/day average recall) and you may be kicked out if you breach that fair use/personal use only policy.

The Kogan deal seems good. I've looked into of myself and was imprased with the deal, and being g on telstra network, can't be any worse than my current Amaysim piggy backing to optus.

The 6gb is interesting,  only getting 4gb (also unlimited text and calls) with amaysim. Currently pay $39.90 month. $37.90 with wife's staff discount when buying through her work.

I work at a fairly remote mine site, where Telstra has been our only option.
A couple of the lads have made the change over to Kogan and  coverage is equally as good as Telstra.
If nothing else Telstra will have to start to sharpen the old pencil a bit.

Not likely to happen. Look at the cost of competing ISP's. Telstra thinks they don't need to compete because they have better network infrastructure. And on the whole, they do.

They are but just running a business model like Qantas/Jetstar in order to cream off lucrative high end users with 4G and marginally price the already sunk cost 3G to keep Optus and Voda hones (ie poorer). Just extracting the most out of their capital with stratification of the market and the various demands.

Exactly, while some complain I'll be happy to never have to worry about paying extra on a mobile bill (or at least until they kick me off ). In all seriousness,you would have to be on your phone a ridiculous amount for them to kick you off, but even then you still won't have to pay any excess usage.

Kogan Mobile, under fire over the suspension of hundreds of customer accounts, has filed a lawsuit against its major partner seeking to prevent further customer from being cut off.

Consumers flocked to Kogan's $29 prepaid unlimited calls and texts plans, which included 6GB of data, but many were dumped from the network for apparently making too heavy use of the service.

I have been with kogan for 2 months, Lebara prior to that (Vodafone) and Amaysim (optus) beforehand.

The service leaves both for dead. Voice call quality is great and 3g speeds are good everwhere I have reception.. I did the 12 month 300 buck option.. on the offchance something happebed and their monthly fees increased

Basically they want mature working adults not schoolkids so that adults can have an enjoyable network experience, given the providers know 20% of users chew 80% of the bandwith. In that regard I've had very satisfied reports about KM from 3 mature working adults so work out where you fit.

Yeah, I'll go along with all that.
I do find Amaysim is slow, but then my Dads Telstra phone, and USB data connection is also slow.
Apparently it all depends on how the wind blows, Dad states that when travelling, in other areas, his Telstra connection is like chalk and cheese.
I'll also agree that its the area where we are..........

But yeah, Amaysim is frustrating at times.
Likewise, I'll also go along with the statement that Lebara drops out.
Calls are cheap, but connection charges are the killer.
Drop out and you inevitably call again.

For overseas calls, its cheapest alternative.
Dont have a home phone, so calling cards arent an option.

Havent found anything cheaper for the wife to keep in contact with her family in Europe.....?
