yea, thats probably a good idea... how do you 'attach' the poly sheets? ( I assume sheets?)

It's a 60s shed so steel with timber rails and roof joist so I cut sheets to fit between and battened over the joints with 42 X 19 meranti to prevent any sag. Needed to upgrade some electrical wiring, remove batten, take sheet down, retired and replaced everything. Easy.

On Sheds..  those Whirlybird things - are they all the same??? Are there ones that work better than others

Get a solar powered one. I have one on my 15m x 15m Queenslander up on the Tropic and it is basically the same temperature in the roof cavity as it is outside. There is still radiated heat from the sheets, but it beats the hell out of my old house that had 2 of the crappy wind powered ones!

I recently re-roofed my garage - besser bricks and longspan.  Installed Insulbubble under the roof during installation and make a massive difference - apparently that's what we use in sheds. I do work for a roofing manufacturer hence sought advice from people who know as to how to reduce temps.

What I did in my shed today...Mounted a hand me down 60" tv from my parents to replace the old 40" LCD hand me down from my 90 year old grandma.  They promised me a surround system as well but sold it on eBay...  TV is pretty good though - have to think of more garage tasks so I can watch Bathurst 12hr!!!

Cheers,

Tom

Also works well under your mattress in the swag to provide insulation from the ground in cold conditions.

Hadn't thought of that! Cheaper than a mat. Anyway here's a pic of my new tv.  Coincides nicely with 12hr Bathurst!

I might head out to the shed and have a lash at the seat gearbox shortly.

I'll have to move the van out the front, then the Lantra and Avalon can go out as well, then i'll put the other Avalon outside so I can park the Caddy in the centre of the shed with the doors wide open.

Thank Christ the Statesman and the Magna are in separate spots.

mind the boat ;D

Making up new under floor vents, to replace the original fired clay jobbys. These old ones don't allow enough airflow, so the replacement ones are a 6mm stainless steel mesh, attached to a 30mm x 0.8mm gal builders strap frame. Lots of practice with a new mig welder, spot welding the frames.

I build some new benches for my new shed that is being built. One is a work bench that has a sacrificial top and the other is a longer narrower bench that takes a heap of bench top machines.

I built them so I dont have to use my fancy new stainless gear as heavy duty work benches.....

Gave it a tidy up, cleared out the daughters crap, made the fishing rod holder. More too clear, need to make space for assembly and saw bench.
Least I can see the floor now.

There's a wee bit o' work getting done around the place at the moment....

I've been been doing a bit of paint preparation on and off, and we currently have 350m2 of new roof going on in preparation for some solar....24kW  ;D ;D
The garage door's been looking shabby for a while, and the outside handle has been broken for years. It was a lovely day, so I had a rush of blood.
Off to Bunnun's for a new handle, and then some time on the end of a broom and soap bucket to scrub off years of oxidation. It's come up a treat, but still needs a paint.
Add it to the list..... ;D

The shed has an 'addition' to be added when we take possession (2.5mtr lean-to for the length of the shed) which will enlarge it slightly but regardless of my kicking and screaming the good wife insisted that the house be larger ;)

Under serious consideration. No firm date yet, but we can see an overseas trip on our agenda. Possibly next year....
