Moving a wood stove, Newcastle

Gents, I'm in a bind.

I have agreed to buy a full on wood fired stove, one for in the kitchen. It is currently in a house, uninstalled, and I need to move it. Here are the details:

From: Wickham, near Newcastle.

To: Maitland.

Size: Approx 95 cm x 95 cm x 70 cm.

Weight (here's the killer!): About 400KG!

So I've rung a few places and they all want a sh!t load ($800!) or don't want to know about it because they only do large loads. I have access to a ute that would handle it but don't have the muscle to move it.

Any suggestions? I'm happy to pay a reasonable amount but I can't seem to find anyone who'll do it.

Any suggestions? Anyone know someone who'll do it for a reasonable figure?

Maybe you could use a Genie lift might to handle
it in and out of the ute.

You may also need to use a trailer to cart it around
at the same time though.

Or just go to kennards and hire an engine crane? Should be able to move it with one of them? Between that and one other mate you should be able to do it without breaking your backs?

So is it in the house? Do you have to get it through doors etc?  Sounds like you might need 6 or 7 guys and a few cartons of beer............

No problem ,,,, take a camera & strip it down this will give you a lot of bits & pices . Bit like lkea but no Allen Keys . DONT l say DONT louse the pics & then reassamble it in its new home . Simple 1 trailer , 1 trip , lots of pics

I will try to reduce it as much as possible, doors, lids, etc but I don't reckon it'll come down to less than 300kegs.

Do you think you could make rollers work?  It sounds like you might be struggling to get the labour, but with two blokes and some rollers you should be able to get it moving?

What's access to the trailer like? Do y need to get it down stairs etc?

lol man power, like Speewa said, strip it down to reduce the weight as much as possible,,  maybe a couple of Skates,,, (kennards hire).
and maybe take the bobcat for a run ,, just to lift it on the truck.

and then put it on a trailer with a ramp.

My father has had 2 woodstoves in my lifetime and he moves them around on steel pipes used as rollers...works really well.
As it rolls over you grab the ones being spat out at the back and use at the front etc etc

I would suggest its a job for a professional..
Thats a Shit load of weight to get through small doors and chance of injury would be very high..

Keep ringing around for quotes.
Speak with some places that do heaters and piano moving.. that would be a piece of piss fo rhtem.

X2 on above, because what's the chance the person selling it will be watching like a hawk for any damage to their house as you try to remove it.

Is it worth having a talk to piano movers? They may do the job or rent you a trolley.

Talk to kennards or coates about heavy duty skates easy to manouvre on these then onto a tilt tray he can whinch it onto tray no heavy lifting no injuries. Not sure about your distances for cost of truck good luck

Thanks for all the replies.

Ended up using dowels, about the size of broom handles, to skate it to the door. Built a ramp to get it down the stairs. More dowels to get it to the driveway. Tilted it, put it on a pallet. Used a pallet jack to then put it in the back of a covered trailer. Kennards. About $150 for pallet jack and trailer.

Worth it in the end.
