We are thinking of relocating to Perth
I am a painter by trade so industrial painting is up my ally
Or i have experience driving a Dozer ,Loader with tickets and have a HR license

Hi Jason,

Don't waste your time applying directly to the big mining companies. You chances are a lot higher going through employment companies, eg Skilled, Workpac, monodelphous engineering etc.

Perth is a very expensive place to live (rent, cost of living) but unemployment rates are the lowest in the country. Do your research 1st. I know of many eastern staters who have moved over here got into the mines and moved back home after the 1st year.

Getting your first foot in the door is not as easy as some people make out.

Hi Jason I live in kalgoorlie and most jobs start as trainee truck drivers. You wouldn't get on anything else without doing some time. Tickets don't mean anything over here as all mine sites have there own assessments. The superpit website would be a good place to start looking only thing you need to live here to get a job

Hey mate, I work in the mines in central Queensland and I would recommend starting off with a contractor such as theiss, leightons, Golding, NRW, etc.... As these guys are more likely to hire a clean skin and train you up, on the other hand things are very, very quiet at the moment in the coal mines and most places are laying off rather than employing...... The big area employing at the moment is the gas fields around Dalby, Roma and chinchilla, well worth sussing that out as they are paying megabucks during construction over the next few years..
