Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum , this is my first post.

I have been camping for some years now. Started off with a tent but soon swapped to a camper trailer. I just can't find one suitable for me (us) and at this stage I am at Ct No 6. First a soft floor, then hard floor, back to soft floor, back flip soft floor, side flip soft floor and now off road soft floor.
Can't quite put my finger on it but I think the main reason I can't find the right one is price and space (hard floor too small) and difficulty (time) of set up, most of all cleaning time on packing up.
I recently saw a Star Vision hard floor camper trailer called "The Traveller".  It looks really good and appears to be great value but my problem is that they sell it down in Melbourne and I live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. I work hard for my money and so I find it hard to buy off a brochure. I have contacted Star Vision and they have no intent to come to Sunny Qld exhibitions in the near future.
My question is has anyone experience with this camper and or company?
Any comment would be very appreciated.

Cheers - cue

Welcome to the Forum Cue, I am sure there was some discussion recently about this camper, I am not sure it was the same seller but I remeber the suspension setup. I am sure someone will have some details on it.

Good luck on finding the perfect camper, there are so many variables that I think that sometimes you need to get close but not perfect

if you are on camper #6 and still cant make do I'd suggest flying down and looking at it. I feel you'd be better off with a caravan, maybe a Goldstream or similar.

You sound awfully picky, and I wouldnt be taking someoene elses word for it.

Hey my friend whatever you do, its probably not a good idea to buy a major purchase off the net. There have been numerous reports of grown men crying when the ebay/ gumtree/ website purchase turned up. See it in the flesh if possible, as seeing is believing.

if youve work out your priorities Trailer or Tent or Options Attached... then budgets will determine which Camper trilers fit the funds. For instance in a Camper Trailer theres a big difference between a box and a reinforced trailer to carry top loads. Tents are bought on reputation don't you agree?... and the Options..... well there is a thousand things I dont even know I need yet, so these possibilities are limitless...but purchased over time, camping equipment becomes an asset.

Have fun while you look, it is very interesting to explore the possibilities

Maybe list what trailers you have had, and the issue with each.

You maybe better off speaking with someone like Trackabout and getting a custom job made.

Welcome Cue.

Maybe there is not a "perfect" camper out there for you or anybody else  :D  Whilst one may tick most of the boxes, there will always be the "what if's" and "this would work better on the other side" etc. etc.  I'm fairly new to the CT side of camping but spent years and years in tents and don't think I ever found the "perfect" tent.  Maybe you need to get a CT custom made just for you  ???  Good luck in your search.

Happy camping

Hey Cue ,

Welcome to the swag.
I guess we have been in the same boat as you.
It has now got to the stage that I have had to restrain myself and have a really good think about just what style of camper we need.
I have an idea but am going to wait a little longer to see what else suits us.
At this stage it really looks like we may be considering building a custom,,, how long that will take????,,,, who knows?

Welcome again

Since you've already owned six campers I think you need to make a list of what was right and what was wrong with each of them, then each time you look at a new camper you can go through your list and see whether the new one has eliminated all (or most) of the 'wrongs' whilst still having all (or most) of the 'rights'.

The Traveller would be hopeless for me: the layout is like a small caravan rather than a camper and from the photos on eBay it doesn't appear to have a lot of usable storage.  Love the look of the suspension set-up though. Nowhere does it say where it is made which leads one to surmise that it is Chinese in origin.

Don't even think about buying one without seeing it!  And don't take anyone else's opinion, since I have no doubt that your previous six are all loved by members of this forum!
Camping is great as long as the mattress is inner spring!

Vacation Campers

Ever thought of talking to one of the Brisbane based companies that can customise to your requirements - if you have had a few you should know what you do and don't like so may be worth having a talk - give us a call and at least get a costing then you will know whether it's worthwhile pursuing it down to Melbourne or not. Hi again,
Thanks a million for all this food for thought. I am totally overwhelmed with your response and have a lot to think about.
The reason it took me a while to response was of course I was camping trying out my new off road camper trailer.

In my last post I left a few details out because I did not want to complicate things, but I feel now I have to clarify a little.
The are a couple of reasons I am on trailer 6 without having found a suitable one.
Reason one is a low budget and two is I can't resist a bargain!
The first trailer I bought was an ex demo sale on ebay and I paid $2200. Whenever I sold I used the same money to buy a new one and I have just listed my current one for $5000, hoping to get it. Brand new, only used once , full off-road with all the bangs and whistles and hot dip galvanised!
Mind you I now know that I will buy a caravan and have increased my budget a lot, but I fear it will start all over again.
Maybe I like the journey.
Once again thanks to everyone for your comments, they are highly appreciated.

that must have been some ex-demo....

believe it or not it was in excellent condition.
I put a kitchen in there and a jockey wheel, we used it twice and it was sold for $3500, so yes, it was a great ex demo trailer...

Don't feel bad, a senior member of this forum has an unused CT (at least by him) and its been a fair bit longer than a year in his possession. At least a tent is a relatively small investment.

Welcome Cue to Myswag,
Looks like you are on a long journey to find the perfect CT.
Good luck.

Its an OZTent RV-5 with all the trimmings...wasn't THAT cheap but I wish I could use it or sell it to somebody who can.

My alternative to cheap import trailers;
