Gas bayonet heaters

Has anyone used or have a recommendation for a small portable gas heater for use in an annexe of a Jayco. I was thinking of connecting one to the gas bayonet on the drawbar.

I don't plan to use it overnight or inside the camper.

It may be cheaper easier to use a table top patio gas heater.

I actually noticed some at bunnings last saturday. Not bayonet but they run of the butane cartridges like the stoves.  Gasemate brand.

I was thinking of a portable gas bayonet heater like one of these:

They don't need to be connected to electricity, can be connected to a gas bayonet, and have some safety features too. However, I think they may produce more heat than required.

I was looking at a second hand one. They vary in price from 80-200 second hand. Seems like people sell them when they move and the new house has no bayonets.

May also just get one of the companion style heaters too. I don't think it will get a heap of use. So don't want to go over the top on $.

It's great, on the outside of course. After tea and its cold we sit around it and warms us up till bed time. Handy for an overnighter when you can't light a fire. This is ours

How quick do they go through the gas?

I ran one on a 1 kg bottle over Easter last year. About 2 hours a night, for 4 nights, used  bugger all gas, and didn't get anywhere near emptying the bottle. Having said that you need to get pretty close to them to keep warm.

Thanks for that.  We've got 5nights Booked in at the national park in Carnarvon gorge this June as our first long stop on our trip around oz.

I figure it's going to be pretty cold and believe there's no camp fires allowed?

Might need the warmth?

We only used it at night and briefly in the morning when I first rolled out of bed to make a brew.

Might need two for that time of the year

Just agreed to buy a small, second hand, portable Paloma Gas bayonet heater for $25.

Pretty much like this one.

Does not require power, has safety features including:

• Flame failure device prevents flow of gas to burner if ignition fails or flame goes out.
• Oxygen Depletion Safety System - Should the oxygen level in the room falls below an acceptable level, the heater automatically shuts off.
• Safety Tilt Switch - If the heater is knocked over the gas supply is immediately shut off.

It  will connect to the gas bayonet on my drawbar. I think it has a 1.5m hose, so that should make it into the annexe or awning area.

Should get it in about 3 weeks or so cause the guy is travelling with work, and I am not in a great hurry either. I don't get the new camper till end of April start of May.

Feeling like that is a pretty good outcome...assuming everything works and it actually arrives in the mail.

We have one like this as others have said use it if its cold before bed or in morning do have to be close to it but does give some warmth I like that you can just sit it anywhere and move it around if needed

Bargain at $25 but being in Canberra you would need 12 of them I would think

Where do you get it from?

Gumtree was my friend. The trick is finding one which is LPG. They typically go for 150-200 second hand.  450 new. I picked it up in Perth. Freight killed me.
