I know that it has been a previous topic, however just trying to get into a van park for Easter & for one park on the mid north coast it is $92.00 per night with a minimum of 4 nights.(this is for a powered site)

I have checked into a park on the south coast NSW in the April school holidays for a week for $240 powered site as its off peak. Easter is peak which would cost around $ 110 a night. Wait the two weeks if you can.

We looked at one park in Victoria and they wanted $602 for the Easter weekend........no thanks.

The problem is people are paying it, therefore they can raise tariffs

It's ridiculous how much they go up, I found this out over Christmas when I rang around. Some of their price had gone up 3-4 fold so I told them to shove it :) no wonder I try and stay away from CV parks

Free camping is the only way to go over Easter..............

That said, my boss has booked us in to a resort in Coffs to meet up with friends from Queensland.
First time in over 20 years I won't be camping at Easter.
(Wonder if I can set my swag up on the balcony???)

Free camping is so much better.
No noisy neighbours.

One Easter we went to Bullara Station south of Exmouth.
We booked it for 3 nights but stayed a week.
We loved it. It is a working station and we had to leave as the cattle was driven to the farm.
It was mustering time.

which park was this?

while I do agree most of this is robbery, like petrol going up magically every holiday (but the ACCC says we are imagining it all), some caravan parks are empty for 95% of the year, they have to make the most of it sometime to stay open.

But agree with others free camping is very appealing

My guess would be Inverloch in Victoria, it is the most expensive park we have ever enquired about staying at.

We will be free camping in the High Country if the fires are out by then.

x eleventy!   ;D

I can't understand why people pay premium prices to live 2 foot from their neighbours beside a busy highway with a playground for kids  ???   when sites at a campground with nature all around you are far cheaper, no where near a highway and it's of benefit for the kiddies to experience nothing artificial.

Sadly these days most kids (mine inc) don't want nature - its boring... most kids want playgrounds and a recharging point for their Itoy and Ds etc.

No offense intended to any parent ... but are you making it "exciting" enough for them?  Back in my day it was "tuff titties kiddies make the most of it" and we did.

If we are camping with other families we never see our kids unless their hungry. When its just us the kids won't go off and play alone thereby we do what we have to, to keep them occupied so we can unwind as well.

@brickiematt - Yes for Easter, they opened applications today at 9am,on a first in basis.....having said that, apparanatly it is only an application and wont know for another two weeks if confirmed but was one of the first (on the phone before 9am on hold)...they may still have some space so give them a ring.

We normaly do Lake Eildon over Easter, but that has become popular as I went to book a couple of weeks ago and not much left ( I need 3 sites together) so when checking out the Parks website, noticed the prom announcement.

Just head inland. It's costing us $29 a night at Birdsville. For up to six guests.

Good luck mate, hope you get a spot. The prom's a great place, we love it there.
That's a really good price for easter, bit surprised actually. Expected it to be quite a bit more.

Try state parks

We have been to Wyangala waters (near cowra) a few times $20 a night for powered site for 2 adults kids under 16 free. Great amenties, shop, playground, swiming, canoe and paddle boat hire. And they put on outdoor movies for the kids at night.
