I was at the fight and the loud mouth MUNDINE supporters became very quiet after the first four rounds.

Wehther you are a mundine fan or not, the marketing and promoting of the fight got alot of people watching. Yes we all wanted to see mundine get knocked out but if it was another boxer fighting Geale very few would have watched the match. 

Mundine knew how to push everyones buttons but it made him alot of Money.

I like most other can't stomach the bloke, but he's knows how to promote himself and boxing into the mainstream media better than anyone.
Also credit to him, while Geale out boxed him, Mundine still traded blows with him right up until the final bell.  He clearly lost, but Geale could not canvas him.


Mundine has made a fortune out of his outrageous comments, but he's also made his opponents alot of money and given a few nobodies a name.


Given Green's comments today.  wonder if that could fuel a Green V Mundine rematch?
Would create a nice big media interest and a fat retirement fund for both!

i have not watched a Mundine fight in years, anyone who pays to watch him or goes to a club / pub to watch him fight is just putting $$ in his pocket, and i refused to do that. i'm more then happy to watch the result later on the telly the next day  though i did watch a free live link coverage call lastnight whilst i surfed the net

Kostya tszyu made a lot of money without ever stooping to the disgusting behaviour of the racist mundine.

Geale had two world titles under his belt and could of made more money defending both of those titles overseas. So you could say he threw mundine a bone... especially after mundines overseas popularity was demonstrated in las vegas when he attracted 127 people fighting a 47 year old.

I don't judge people on the amount of money they make as most have to sell their soul to get it. So mundine has earnt 10c for every person in australia who hates him. Not the greatest of legacys to leave, especially when all of australia would have loved to back him if he wasnt a lying racist. Its a shame because he could have been great but the fact is he never defeated a champ, he never won a world title - he took the easier route of fighting for interim or vacated belts. The only time he's fought the beltholder he's been shown to be substandard - ottke, kessler and geale.

As per my previous post, two very good athletes. Mundine got beaten but not flogged. But he should be now, for his complete lack of sportsmanship in defeat. For him to suggest he was robbed is a disgrace.

I was even more disappointed to see those sorts of comments from SBW and Quade Cooper, in support of Mundine. "Corrupt judges" I think they said. I wonder if Tony Mundine buys into all his sons crap; Tony had class.

Great result. He said a few weeks ago if he lost it was because of the refs.
I was very lucky a very loooooooooooooong time ago to have a beer in Sydney - little bit underage - with Lionel Rose after his fight with Hirada the bloke from Japan and came home with the world title. Bloody top bloke.

If we didn't give him the attention he craved he would piss of into another sport or simply fade away and boxing & the entire country would be better for it... It is unfortunate that any conversation about Mundine/Geale ALWAYS revolves around "how bad Mundine is" rather then about "just how good Geale is" Even the promotion leading up to the fight was mostly about Mundines **** talking. Geale deserves wayyyyyyy more recognition IMO. Anyone who is a true fan of boxing would realize just how great Dan is being only the fourth Aussie to unify a title, the only Aussie to beat a German on their own home turf not once but twice etc etc...

Anyway, Sam Soliman to fight Felix Sturm next and the winner is mandatory to challenge Geale within 90 days. After that Dan reckons Martinez & Golovkin are on the cards. I don't think we will have much time to wait to see him perform again & again. Dan knows he is at his best and nows the time to rise to the very top before it's too late for him and he says he is going for it in 2013. When you talk to any of the great fighters and ask them what they regret the most....ITS INACTIVITY!!!

How you going today? Feeling alright? This morning when you've had a chance to recover and have a decent sleep (didn't happen sooner, wish you'd been KO'd earlier) maybe you'll have another think about some of your life decisions?

If you think boxing is so corrupt, maybe you should do the boxing world a favour and quit?

Because really. You come across as nothing more than a petulant child who throws tantrums whenever anything doesn't go your way.

You want to be a role model for Aboriginal children? Well act like one. How dare you question anyone about their race or self identity. I have nothing against you being proud of your heritage. That's admirable. But implying that Geale is somewhat lesser because YOU have dictated that he's not an Aboriginal (who gave you that right by the way?) is reprehensible, and you know what...racist.

I also think it's disgusting to question a man's integrity because he married a 'white woman'. And here I was thinking that love should transcend such things. But what would I know? Again, in my eyes, that paints you as a racist.

You had (have) so much talent as a sportsman. You could have had every Australian backing you. And you could have furthered Aboriginal rights and been the very role model you claim to be...if you just weren't such a d--k head.

You are the one who has isolated yourself from the Australian public. You are the one who has created the 'us versus them' mentality. You are the one who constantly uses the race card.

We would be with you if you weren't so against us.

What message are you teaching these kids? That nothing is ever your fault? If you don't win, then scream like a petulant child and throw a tantrum? Grow up. You're 37. Take some responsibility. You may be a fantastic athlete, but you're a s--t sportsman.
I'm the first to admit that this place isn't perfect. But it is amazing and I love it here. So really, if you think this place is as racist and corrupt as it is, go somewhere else. To me it's a win win. You don't want to be here, we don't want you here. But that's me dreaming.

Look at your opponent last night and through the buildup (sic) of this fight. He handled himself with dignity and he gave you more respect than you deserved. You attacked his heritage and his wife and even though he beat you fair and square and in spite of your immaturity, he had kind words for you.

Learn from him.
