Service Centres Between Start Motorway Sydney End To Melbourne ?s

When heading from Sydney end of Motorway out at Cambelltown is there service centres on the way down to Melbourne.I have read that there is a couple down at Glenrown but are there anymore on the way down ?.

There are quite a few. Mostly though you need to detour a couple of kays into towns. Holbrook is pretty much the last little town you go through with all the bypasses.
There is one on the hume just outside of sydney though. This is where I fill up when I leave sydney and make it to wodonga with half a tank or so.
Pheasants nest is what it is called I believe. If you are traveling through the day time most of the towns servos are open, except sundays. Holbrook and Pheasants nest are both 24hour.
Once you hit Albury Wodonga, there are a million and one servos here.

There's a big service centre a few k's north of Gundagai (near the dog on the tuckerbox). The one just south of Sydney is called Sutton Forest.

Just what i wanted to know im leaving in the middle of the night from Pt Stephens so i can miss the Sydney traffic and im stopping at Glenrowan the next night before heading to Pt Melbourne.Thanks for that

From reading the trip advisor site seems like a nightmare in Victoria for speed and timed cameras ,lucky ill be in cruise mode with the CT

The speed limit from Albury to just out of Melbourne is 110kph so should be fast enough with the ct

Yep, it doesn't drop down to 100 until your just out of Melbourne.
If your traveling through Albury Wodonga during the day, there is plenty to see and do. always good for a stop.
Pheasants nest is normally cheaper for fuel than most others between syd and wodonga, however even though Glenrowan and Holbrook have servos, if you can stretch your fuel till Albury you can save up to 20c a liter on diesel....

Are you in a heavy vehicle? In NSW the timing system only works on heavy vehicles (over 4.5T GVM at rego).

I hate having to drive miles off the track to get food and fuel.

Yass is good and easily accessed.
Tarcutta has good food and coffee, it's a Shell I think.
Holbrook is my favourite stop, at one of the two bakeries but they'd only be open business hours I reckon. There is a truck stop at the northern end of town, was looking quite run down with the road works.
Glenrowan is easy to get to, the towns further south seem much further off the Highway.

These are all truck stops so plenty of places to get fuel all hours

No Exy with a Ct but when i did read the Tripadvisor site it sounds like it is for cars as well as trucks.I know it is only for trucks on the Pacific Hwy to Brisbane as we have been travelling that to visit family and i said to the wife i wonder if thats for us the timed cameras so i looked it up and im sure it said only for trucks.Someone might confirm the timed cameras are only for trucks in Vic.Not that it worries me that much just handy to know. When returning to Melbourne (and towing c/t or trailable yacht) we start with a full tank just north of Newcastle (Raymond Terrace) then top up at Pheasants Nest where we generally stop for coffee and a comfort break.  Generally don't fill again until we get to Albury.
There are heaps of service centres down the highway - from memory Pheasants Nest, Sutton Forest, Yass, Gundagai, Holbrook, Albury, then in Vic  - Glenrowan,  Violet Town, Wallan, Donnybrook  plus all the little towns you can pull off into should you so choose.  Cameras in Victoria on the Hume are point to point (so time and distance) for all traffic not just trucks.  Have a great trip.

Thanks DL for confirming those point to point cameras are for cars as well and thanks to all that replyed great info makes planning a little easier havent been down that way for awhile

Victoria,

Glenrowan BP - usually Dear as. Both sides. Maccas.
Euroa Shell - southbound only. New and clean. Maccas.
Avenel Caltex Northbound. Truckies Favourite. No multinational food conglomerants, Roadhouse food.
South of Seymour Mobil/BP  (used to be Mobil) - both sides, usually amongst the cheapest. Clean. As above, Roadhouse food,
Wallan  BP - both sides.  Allways busy, toilets are usually filthy. Maccas, KFC, etc.

Then Donnybrook, Shell Northbound, Caltex south. 

We usually use Shell Donnybrook  on the way home, and Seymour.

Melbourne does have point to point timed speed cameras for all vehicle.

Melbourne also contracts its stationary cameras out so it could be anything from a xtrail to a crappy hilux on the side of the road trust me i know

Also unlike NSW they only give you about 4km grace

I personally use cruise control all over VIC including melbourne streets as it is pretty full on for speeding oh and i also learnt the hard way if a tram stops you must to

the Victorian ones were turned back on for MotoGP weekend

ALMOST 20,000 motorists were secretly snapped speeding past the Hume Freeway point-to-point cameras in a 60-day period when they thought they were still turned off. 

Most of the murders/killers (6382) were doing a deadly less than 10km/h over the limit, while 80 were speeding by more than 20km/h in a 110km/h zone

And Yep, if you pass anything pulled over on the side of the freeway, slow down.  There used to be a great set up of a 2WD Navara with a few hay bales in the back on the Ballarat Road a few years ago.  Dont know if he put the dog in there as well.

All of the 19,280 motorists caught speeding in the two months before the cameras were officially turned on in August escaped being fined as the cameras were being tested - but the 9200 nabbed in the 60-day period since the testing finished would have to cough up.

In Vic if you sont speed you dont have to pay spoeeding fines & you get to keep what ever points you still have  . Good system really

I loved a quote from one of the VIC Traffic Superintendents.   "Our speeding fines are completely voluntary. If you would like to donate just accelerate"  Hee hee.

I like the fixed distance speed cameras.  To get fined you really need to apply yourself and takes away the sped up to do 'x' for just a few seconds when caught.

Yea I must admit, I usually stop at Holbrook for a photo, squirt and munch.
There used to be some good towns to stop at along the way, but they all died or are nearly dead due to bypassing everything...

Yes havent been pinged for about 12yrs now wife reckons it good luck more than anything .Anyway that bakery at Holbrook looks the go only couple weeks to go now and we are looking forward to getting outa here especially now we have the CT.
