The 2nd battery in the 4B is getting a wee bit tired. I've got a 25amp, 7 stage charger & have done a recon on it, but it's not holding charge too well. It's only function is powering a 20 yo, 40l Engel & will now barely supply overnight. What's the best specific house battery on the market? Do I go AGM? I've AC Delco Marine batteries in the boat & they seem OK. Also, someone mentioned that if the battery is being charged (has a solenoid) but not used shortens its life...True or False. Any advice appreciated
Cheers & a Merry Christmas & safe travels

i think with a 7 stage charger the last part of the 7 stages is more of a maintanance/float cycle...Correct me if im wrong.....that wont hurt ya battery.....

Thats the way my Ctek M300 25Amp charger works, switches to a monitor roll and the gives a top up charge when the battery voltage goes below a preset level.

AGM is the way to go for a fridge, I use a 2 x 120AH FullRiver AGMs, Verypleased with them, my Arb 47l Fridge and led lighting will last 4-6 days depending on weather,

Sorry fellas, I should have been more specific. I meant whilst it was being charged in the vehicle.

I just sourced an Optima D43 yellow top for $245 delivered from ebay. I understand the Optima D34 is a hybrid style that has AGM and engine cranking capability, although its not recommended to be used as daily cranking battery.

Marine Start batteries are cheaper & supposedly give good service, AGM's are dearer but last a bit longer.
