How do you fill in time while on hold?

Currently waiting to speak with a service tech about broadband.  Can't quite pick the accent.  Thinking Phillipino.   Other options are of course trimming toenails, having a beer, swearing a lot and making mental notes to never deal with them again. How do you spend your waiting time?

Hi,

As often as I can. Sometimes I ask them to wait, once they've answered, so I can finish a post

All very similar. I normally use a headset with the phone a well.  If they can't help or are being ignorant, connect them to a time share mob via three way, and they can argue themselves into oblivion.

I turn up the volume, put them on speaker (that way the neighbours can hear who's got me on hold for so F-ing long) and go do housework or watch a movie.  I usually yell out Hang On A Second when I hear them and then take my sweet time returning to the phone, thank them So Much for having me on hold for *insert time here* or tell them I just have to wipe the crap off my arse ... just be a sec, get their name for my written or emailed complaint, then haven't got my paperwork ready so do some paper shuffling (I have but they don't know that) and ask them questions I already know the answer to, ask them about things they don't do and try to keep them on the phone for *insert initial on hold time here* to waste their time because they wasted mine.  It's just a bit fun to see if you can do it for *insert initial on hold time here*.  Bonus points if you can.   ;D

The other day I rang NIB health insurance to find out if they would cover a recurrent knee surgery WorkCover matter that was being held up on approval for more surgery. Anyways went on hold and they had a call back option. Left mobile number and policy number and they rang me back in 20min. Had already checked my cover and the chick said hat would be fine and actually said that WorkCover can take a while and don't put it off and basically talked me into the surgery and claim through them.

Amazing. I really hate on hold.
