i thought the radio stations were talking up the threat of tornados the other day, but reading weatherzone forum the current conditons pose a real prospect it could happen somewhere. apparently the conditions they are seeing are the same as what tornado chasers in the U.S look for when they go chasing  :o :o they aren't saying it will happen though, just saying it's the right conditions for it to possibly happen.
watched the news reports before and the City / Valley / Bowen Hills  area certainly copped it earlier today, plenty of cars written off and heaps of trees being cut up. reports on weather forum have big hail falling out around Oakey area before aswell with heaps of vehicles being damaged, looks like being a costly weekend for the insurance companies this weekend.

Yeah I agree.  They could just look out the window hey?  But that's no excuse really ... they've been warned on the weather reports (news) for a few days now.

Edit:  Golf ball sized hail west of Pittsworth.  Look out Toowoomba ... here she comes!

BOM says 8-10 cm hail at Pittsworth. That's not golf ball size...that's base ball size!

some good pics in the link Lost.
not much happening here at my place tonight, plenty of cloud lightning and some light rain, but we seem to be missing any bad stuff for now. have seen some great pics and video footage on weatherzone forum and higgins storm chaser link so far, reckon tomorrow they'll have some cracking pics on the sites by the sounds of their posts. already seen a couple of pics, but most people were out and about chasing the storms and couldn't post pics on the run.
got to feel for a couple of guys from work at the moment, they went camping with their girlfriends on Teewah Beach for the weekend. i've sent messages to them to try and warn them what's coming, but i know phone reception there is rubbish so they may be unaware they are about to get very wet....lol

There's been plenty of lighting and thunder at down town Ormeau Hills, only been getting constant rain so far...
Looking on BOM looks like it might be further north...

started bucketing down here about 10 - 15 minutes ago, reckon swift water rescue will get some call outs tonight with the amount of rain falling around some parts unfortunately. has been fairly sedate here up until about 10 -15 minutes ago, but now the yard is covered in water and it's running off into the gutter quickly.
tomorrow mornings news will be an interesting watch i reckon, is pretty wide spread and damage occurred from Northern NSW to Brisbane and out West of here also. was reading earlier that Uni of Qld at Gatton got 70mm in an hour and a half, and Lake Manchester (which is out Ipswich way i think from memory?) got 62mm in an hour, i reckon that'll possibly cause some flash flooding in some areas.

It is Mal.. Lake Manchester is north of Ipswich, just off the warrego highway.. When I was working on the Ipswich motorway we used to head out there in summer to cool off...

PMSL at the size...lol
even at 110mm that's huge hail, i heard softball sized mentioned in reports yesterday and thought B.S..... you wouldn't want to get hit by that, imagine the damage to vehicles and the like they would have copped also.
reading weather forum this morning and possibly more storms again this morning, i just hear a rumble of thunder right now as i type so will be interesting to see how the day pans out today.

we only got 1mm of rain last night.

Little bit of rain now, but i need a good 50mm worth to keep all these lawns growing, cause no grow, means no mow, which means no dough for me.  :'(
