Just asked Vic (in the auto business) and he seems to think you can do a check. It's not called REVS now though it was disbanded in NSW (not sure about other states) it's called Personal Properties Securities Registar.  Give them a ring/email and see how you go

I believe you can. There is a new national service Personal Property Securities Register

That may show if there is finance owning, not if it is stolen etc.

It most certainly does.

We just purchased a 2nd hand Jayco a month ago and did a PPSR check prior to purchase.
For the peace of mind I do it on everything I buy.  cars, Boats, caravans, bikes, trailers.
They all can be stolen, written off and financed.

The Vicroads full VSR is no longer, although you can still do a quick free check for current rego, VIN no. and theft.

The PPSR does a full check for $3.50.

QuoteWhat information is available for search on PPSR?
The following vehicle validation information will be available for search on PPSR:

encumbrance (monies owing)
vehicle details (such as make and model)
registration status
stolen status
written off status
This information will be provided in a PPSR Search Certificate (fees apply).
