I am looking at installling a UHF radio into my NP Pajero. I am looking at having my electric brake controller down in the drivers 'well'...probably on the side of the centre console area.

That being the case, where have people put their UHF radios in the Pajeros ? Is there anywhere easy without having to drill holes in the back of the dashboard slots ?

Ideas appreciated..

Hi Mark, see pic for both UHF and brake controller.  Mine doesn't have the CD stacker so I was happy to remove the storage bin and as a non smoker I don't miss the ash tray.  You'll find heaps of info on the Pajero forum:

Hi Mark
I have a NT 2010. Uniden radio UH7760NB with the remote speaker. Radio itself is mounted up under the console over the transmission tunnel, and the hand piece is secured to the blank flip out panel on the console. This way I can remove radio without damaging the car. Electric brakes are Redarc remote head mounted next to steering column in a blank switch panel (next to the reverse buzzer cancel button)and the main unit up under the dash.Hope this helps.

Like Joffa, I have a 2010 NT but I have an Icom 440 with a remote head, with the same Redarc dial brake controller that looks like a standard dial.

You can see the photo below of just the uhf head unit - doesn't take up too much space, although I have now mounted it higher up.

Mines similar to Outbackogre's.

Ditched the ash tray and fitted a Primus IQ brake controller in the slot.  Upgraded the stereo head unit and replaced the redundant CD stacker with a din sized GME uhf.  Easy as.

We have a unit with the controls on the mic, so have installed the main unit under the passenger seat.

Brake controller on the 'dash'  adjacent to the steering column so the brakes can be used manually.

Cheers.

Hi MarkVS,

I have an NP Pajero with a Tekonsha P3 brake controller & a Uniden RM-770 UHF with remote mic. I have set mine up like this:

Never had a problem with the brake controller at this angle & it is easy for me to see & reach. The UHF is mounted behind the dash paneling with only the mic on the outside. I used outdoor double sided mounting tape from bunnings to stick the mic holder to the dash & It has never moved. Did not have to drill any holes to mount it & everything is within easy reach.

Hope this helps.

It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.

We have an NP Pajero and mounted it into an overhead centre console that also has a shelf, a spare 12v plug and overhead lights.  Very neat. [Only hurts when the radio hand piece bounces off the clip and clocks you on the scone].  Will take a pic and add later.

Thanks everyone for your ideas and photos.  :cup: You've given me some things to think about.

Thats what I love about this forum  ;D ;D

My main unit in behind the main console in the middle with the head as marked. Behind where the UHF word is.
