How do Jayco's hold up in a storm?

Thought we would go somewhere close for our 1st trip away and ended up at the Inverloch Fore shore camping ground. So far the weather has been fantastic but the forecast isn't, has anyone had any experiences with the Jayco's in wind and rain?

When I had my swan I had it out is some torrential rain and wind and never had an issue. There are a few on here that have had water ingress issues but I guess it's luck of the draw

Cheers for that, can handle water because it will go back under warranty, just the wind I'm a bit worried about with the way the roofs wobble.

I have had my dove in some very strong wind & driving rain.
All I did to prepare in addition to the normal setup, was to tie some rope to the factory roof tie down spots on the right hand side to stop some of the sideways wobble, & all was sweet.

Hi,

just finished 22,000km trip across QLD, NT, WA & SA. 2011 Jayco Hawk was in some pretty nasty weather
Sunday 12/08/2012 Perth - Heavy Wind & Rain
Tuesday 21/08/2012 Walpole - Heavy Wind  & Rain
Wednesday 22/08/2012 Albany - Heavy Wind & Rain
Tuesday 04/09/2012 Port Augusta - Heavy Wind
Wednesday 05/09/2012 Bon Bon Rest Area - Extremely Heavy Wind

We used the annexe ropes on the boat rack and pegged the van down, on free sites we had to park the van & car into the wind and open up the bed end windows to allow the wind through!!
Not one drop of rain inside, always used the supplied poles on the diagonal corners to keep the roof up!

regards

When we had our swan we went through heavy QLD rain, a dust storm and high winds.
Must say it handled everything really well. Never had any water or dust come in. Without the awning or annex up we had a small amount of movement in the roof section but never enough to worry us.
With the annex up was never a problem.

Enjoy the camping

We were camping in Rawnsley Park, Flinders Ranges in September2009 when a huge dust storm hit.   Our camper was flattened but the only damage was a bent pole, but we did see a Jayco in the park with both ends bent up and almost lying on the roof.  Not sure if there was any actual damage to the Jayco, but it did not look good.  But the winds were amazingly strong.  The photo is our camper with me trying to hold it down; I did not get a photo of the Jayco.    Kevin

Camped at Calloundra earlier this year when we had the Jayco Finch, winds were not super strong but there was 420mm of rain one night and we never had so much as a drop inside. The beds were dry as well (we used bed fly's) The annexe floor was wet though as there was so much rain the water just poured under the walls and over the slab. All in all it was not a drama.

Recently camped a night in the Coorong and the rain was driving in almost horizontaly all night.  The Dove didn't seem to suffer too bad except for a little bit of seepage above the metal bars above the beds, but that was after many hours of driving rain.

We just had the 1st storm come through and so far so good, few drips here and there in the annexe but not bad considering the constant rain. Just had lunch, baby asleep, everyone kicking back watching the idiot box with the diesel heater purring away, not a bad way to spend school holidays, be nice if we could get out for a spot of fishing.

We didn't get eyelets with ours even though it's got the boat racks and solar but after putting guy ropes out for bed fly's and awning, there is hardly any sway in the roof.
