It seems that we sometimes hit the post button before we realise what has been written. It's great to see the forum growing and there will always be difference of opinions but it's only opInions.

Let's not get carried away with personal taunts. We all joke around etc and sometimes things get taken out of context but if a problem exists send a pm.

Agreed.... We should all keep in mind that the written word is devoid of facial expression and intonation, which is a significant part of human communication.... Emoticons go some way to providing the emotional context of a post.

The best guideline is to assume every post is well-meaning and fun unless specifically labeled as a <rant> or a <flame>

I'm here to exchange ideas, learn from those who wish to share their hard-won experience, and have a bit of fun. Nothing I post should be considered anything else than good-natured and well-meaning.... Unless I label it as such  >:D

Yep, it is sometimes better to agree to disagree or not even comment, than it is to make it personal.
My father told me, if you have nothing nice to say, keep ya mouth shut and don't say anything.

I agree with you DiverBob,
The written word can be twisted, misinterpreted, you can't see the other persons facial expressions, but a smiley is as close as you're going to get to standing in front of someone, this is why I love Smileys.  ;D
Winter has gone, it is time to dust off the camper and enjoy this great country we have for a back yard.

We'll see ya out there somewhere.

Golden rule of any decent debate.

Another one to remember is.
If your going to lead with your chin, then make sure you don't have a glass jaw.
While not directed at anyone on here, if your going to stick your neck out expect someone to take a swipe.

Or even - It is better to look stupid than open your mouth and confirm it :)

This forum gets a big   :cup: from me

Real honest people living and sharing the things that matter most to them.

The majority of us are well behaved and polite and this is just the way a forum should be,we should all hold our heads up high as there are other forums out there which have a lot to be desired.

And for those after some facial expressions of how i feel on this forum,it goes something like this... :D     ;D

Really important this I think. And I missed the thread that triggered this!

On another forum, a member who was a client of mine had a good humored go at me. At the time I needed a builder to do some rennos and he was the guy I selected to do the job (through the forum). I posted up that I would be looking for another builder over this and because of this, he sent me a PM asking why I said this. He truly believed he had lost the job! All because he could not see my facial expression or hear the tone in my voice! I learnt a lesson!

Anyway, $12k later we are the best of mates again and have done reciprocal business together and referred others to each other a few times.

Being polite is really important online I think, far more so than face to face.

I always read forums as 95% opinion and 5% fact...

You have to just dig though all the finger pointing or chest punching to get something useful...   Sometimes it makes you giggle..

Not one thread has created this new thread but just reading responses over the last month it seems things could have been better written and as mentioned words can be taken out of context.
