Hi Bobnrob,
So it seems with the upgrade on SMF (patch i did) this has changed i think from a security standpoint.
The index page login no longer offers the "stay logged in option.  However... 

Go to http://www.myswag.org/index.php?action=login (or just click the Login option on the index page) and use that login, and there is the option to stay always logged on.
You can change the period of time you stay logged in as well.

Hope that fixes your problem.

Hmmm...getting strangerer

Tried both those ways & still got asked to log in when I came back, BUT...on a 3rd attempt while at the log in page & not entered my UI & PW yet, I got the pop up to say I had a PM  *lol*
Now I notice, if I use the log in link from "Welcome, Guest. Please login or register.", I can't go any further till I enter my details. But if I use the "Login" button without entering my details, it brings me straight in!

Just for info only, so don't spend any effort on it because I'll be running my monthly security housekeeping routine shortly, which for all intents & purpose, roughly equates to being like a clean install. I'll see what happens after that

thats weird, and seems a little isolated..
So lets keep an eye on it after your monthly updates..

I can't see any error's on the backend, and been checking all the scripts and permissions etc.. Which is all looking pretty good.
Let me know if anyone is experiencing this afterwards. It could be a cookie problem?

No. just check the "keep me logged in box"

Still have to log in each time I leave the forum. Tried everything. Maybe it is the iPad?

did you try on the ipad to clear all the browsing cache.
then instead of using the login on top of the index page, click the login link and use the form with the login page, with the option to stay checked in.
I've tested this process on my ipads and seems to be ok. Let me know how you go.

Nice work everyone involved in the server upgrades!  My coffee now gets cold while on myswag, not enough time to drink it between clicking everywhere! 

Congrats to all, it's a lot of hard work and I'm sure at times you get fed up with it.

Cleared the cache on the iPad and logged in using the login link and ticked the box but to no avail. Must be me. I am known to be a pooter spa#%^ic. Lol

Interesting to see the numbers logged on seem to have dropped off drastically since the fix.. maybe people are in and out quicker, or maybe they gave up waitin over time.

for those having trouble staying logged on.? Is this a session thing, i.e after every page, or when you come back after a while?

I just pm Firefox and he may think it is an issue with ios6 on iPad as I don't have an issue with my desktop. Anybody out there with new ios6 software?

I had tried everything except resaving to favourites after login, after saving the site I sent it to desktop, works every time now without having to login.

I had a similar problem. Deleted all old bookmarks and favorites, logged into the site then resaved to Bookmarks.......All good now.

Ahh, very valid point about the DNS.. I sort of mentioned in this thread way back..

If anyone is still using the old DNS i setup (www.au.myswag.org) please don't... It will sort of work, and it was put in place to speed up migration time. But it also caused alot of grief with the site.
So the correct details everyone should use is just..

www.myswag.org

Yes there is no /forum anymore, and the reason why is to avoid rewrite/redirect rules that slow the site down and put load onto the server..
The way it is now is so much better and quicker.

I know there is a little pain in transitioning, but will get past that very quickly, and the changes significantly benefit the site speed and overall experience/load of the site.
