camping this weekend in fnq ?

Anyone getting out and about this weekend in Cairns , being a public holiday and all ?.
Looking at dragging the kids out for a break .

Any idea's would be welcome .

Thinking maybe Mount Spurgeon. We have the Monday as a public holiday but Cairns has the Friday so wherever we go is usually already packed out. Looking for somewhere 'new & out of the way'.

Plan ...... yeah, somewhere west of the rain-ges, maybe Emu Ck or somewhere... maybe west of Chicago on the river even.
Just a Mate, someones else's boy, my boy + me, the challenge, to camp, catch fish, eat said caught meal...
At this stage going Friday, back Sat  mate has to work, were looking at doing Laura south through Palmer, but not at the moment with those extras up there...
