Apologies if this isn't in the right section.

I'm not familiar with camp 6 the book, but I have read some good reviews about both here and on other sites.

I looked into it and found it the cheapest at $50 delivered.

Is it really worth the money, is a new edition due any time soon, and does anyone know any cheaper to purchase it from?

Cheers

Burnsy

I don't think the new edition is due for another 20 odd months, that one just came out but you can check their website.  They regularly come up on gumtree over here for around $25-$30 as backpackers off load everything before heading home.

They are good. Camp 6 hasn't been around all that long.

$50 is a reasonable price for a new one. Doubt you will find much cheaper.

Just the info I'm looking for, cheers.

I paid $130 for mine (B4 size and photos). Later found it to be wayyyy over priced...

WilSurf

We used it on our trip to Lake Eyre, very very helpful.
I bought it from the RACWA and as a member it will be cheaper.

Meaning you were not happy with the content,  or just that you could have got it cheaper??

UR-50-LO

I should have looked around instead of buying the first one I seen. Content is good though so I'm not kicking myself too much :)

Wonder if they have plans for a IPad version with a 'take me to' feature.  I'm using wikicamps at the moment which is pretty good but doubt there are as many places as there is in Camps 6.

Very handy book, and iPad version would be awesome..

there is 3 or 4 different formats of the book (B4, A4, A4 spiral spine etc) so sometimes pricing is irrelevant to what someone else says what they paid. Compare apples with apples.

Kit_e_kat9

Find an old copy of Camps 5 cheaply and download the "upgrades" off the internet.  Cheapest option and you still have all the info everyone else has.

Kit_e

I have Camps 5 - A4 not spiral bound no pics $39.95 back then.

Ipad version would be good. I love the ipad.

What format is most popular? B4 would be easier to store in the car...

Estelle

We got the spiral bound (about 300mm x 210mm) Camps book. It is fine.

Ed: I don't think we would get a smaller version of the Camps book though.

It uses the same maps as the larger spiral bound HEMA Maps book/atlas but with marked camp sites and info about them.

Kit_e, I think the iPad is a throw back to the fifties where chicks and cool cats hung out.

Downloaded the WikiCamps app on my iPad, looks good. Not quite as comprehensive as Camps6, but for $1.99, what can I say.
It allows you to filter based on State, and what facilities you need/want.

If people add to Wikicamps, it'll get better ;) we find we use several resources to find camping areas as none has them all.

B4 I would say.

The A4 Version without pictures has a RRP of $59.  On Fbay for <$50 delivered.

The B4 with Snaps has a RRP of $89.  Not many deals on Fbay.

I emailed Camps from their contact page in Jan-12 and got this reply:

Not on then plan as yet.

I bought, what looked like, unused Camps 4 from a garage sale for a dollar.
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Hi CampAround,

Boiling Billy have some good camping books, we have the New South Wales version and it is very informative. Also the right size to fit in the glovebox.
