Heavy duty pegs

As we are headed to Alice I have been wondering if I will need some tough pegs to get into the hard ground??

Is there somewhere that I can get sharp short heavy gauge pegs in Melbourne or on line?

These are a probably a bit of overkill for a tent peg.

I made a bunch of these myself with some light angle and they have been in some tough dirt to date.

Only thing to remember is if you are using big pegs in hard earth, you will need a big hammer/ back of axe/ block splitter.

I just rang MSI who make the rockbreakers.  they cost $0.92 for the 200mm and $1.15 for the 300mm + postage.  They sell them in bundles of 20.  Contact number 08 8374 1422.

They send an invoice which you pay then they post them out.

I live not far from the factory so off today to buy some.  We are also heading into the Flinders early June to give the new Skytrek a go, so looking forward to trying out the new pegs. The bloke I spoke to said they had received a few calls lately. I told him the pegs had a favorable recommendation on this forum.

I went through about 6 pegs before I got one into the ground at Copley... Only had a dozen more to go... but was running out real quick.

The ****hole "CARAVAN PARK" in Maree was even worse....

I gotta do a stocktake of how many i need and refresh em...

Hi,

I have 3 sizes of steel pegs  the original Cub 230mm pegs plus 300mm and 380mm round steel pegs.
Depending on how hard the ground is I select which pegs I use, soft ground I use the 380mm pegs, hard ground I use 230mm pegs.

I also use 130mm coach screws and a battery drill to pin down my annex Cgear multimat and the draft skirt for my Cub Escape.
