I like how you said that without a hint of sarcasm.   

There's heaps of roadworks up and down the Bruce Highway. Allow yourself some extra time and have a few drinks and nibblies in the cab of your truck. It took the wife and I over 11 hours to/from Mackay a couple of weeks ago, and we're closer than you are.

Cheers Matt, unfortunately I read your post just now mate.. Sitting in Gladstone (not Rocky where I hoped to get to) thanks to the road works.. Ahh well mate the slower I go the more people can admire the what was "sparkly" camper on the back of the truck!!
