I'm sick of hearing about it ...... Just go away

I agree.......and also it is important to note that he is just a humble countrymember!

Dont be under the illusion that things would be any different if  the government position was reversed, with Abbott as the PM of a minority government, and one of his Lib/NP members under exactly the same scrutiny as Thompson.

In the scenario I've put above, there's no chance the LNP would allow their man to succumb to the pressure, and in doing so bring down the minority government either!

At risk of dragging this thread up to the sewerwhere it should never even aspire to get thqt high, I just have to rant a little.

What a joke our Parliament is.......
todaas shamble reminds me of eastern European Parliament's minus the fisty cuffs and foreign language, or this south Americans that set fire to themselves,  ours is just laughable.

I rant over this as today I received the obligatory postcard in the mail reminding people to enrol and 'compulsory' vote.

What chance of a clear futtre.

Itsquite worrying.
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Fair Work Australia has begun court proceedings against federal MP Craig Thomson over his alleged use of union credit cards to pay for prostitutes.

All I can say is, if for no other reason, by not voting you give up your right to whinge about the outcome.

I'm quite proud of our electoral system. No one gets shot, there's no blood in the streets, it's all pretty peaceful and invariably we get the government we collectively deserve.

Yes, even this one.

There is no doubt that we do live in the best country and have incredible freedoms and rights.
The trouble is that our current politicians have completely lost reality and at each election we do not have much choice.
It appears to become a politician you need to be one of the following;
1.   Need to be rich.
2.   Need to be a solicitor or barrister.
3.   Need to be a union leader.
And don't forget you need to be able to tell lies without any sign of guilt.
That absolute disgraceful parliament where Gillard attacked Abbott and she became a hit around the world and her popularity increased - what the hell!!!!!  And don't get me wrong, I am not standing up for Abbott.   Sack all of them and let's start fresh.   Sorry, it just all makes me so mad that they all just act like spoilt little kids at a time when we need good leaders.  >:(

Take it easy.  I agree with your reasoning for why he doesn't deserve anything, but no need to advocate violence.

Federal MP Craig Thomson has been arrested at his electoral office.

Members of the NSW fraud squad on Thursday executed an arrest warrant on behalf of the Victorian Fraud and Extortion Squad.

Victorian detectives flew to Sydney this morning where they accompanied NSW police to Mr Thomson's Central Coast electoral office.

The Victorian police have spent almost 18 months investigating claims that Mr Thomson improperly used Health Services Union funds to spend on prostitutes, air travel, entertainment and cash withdrawals in excess of $100,000.

Mr Thomson was charged by virtue of the arrest warrant with a fraud offence.

A further 149 fraud charges are expected to be laid against the 48-year-old when he appears in Wyong Local Court.
