WOW 5 pages of discussion. Me I could not give a rats %&*$ about him or any politician. They are like a disease it takes 3 years to find a cure for it and then a new disease is formed and then another 3 years to get rid of that also.  ???

I have better things to worry about like getting 25 cars through the OTL  ;D ;D

AND with regards to the current furore, at present there are only allegations.  Not until he's charged with an offence and found guilty, will there be any certainty for the multitudes hanging and quartering him.

Even your Prime Minister dumped him from the Labor Party due to the smell emanating from him. I'd say she'd have some good oil on what's really going on. He's dirty. He should leave. Remember, Labor hounded GG Hollingworth out of office for simply not acting soon enough on child abuse allegations against some one else. At least he had the dignity and respect for his office to resign while it was sorted out.

Of course this may be a complete furphy, but this whole show stinks and methinks some do protest far too much.

He might not even be a nice person but he has been investigated a real lot and yet no charges have been laid.

Certain groups are doing there best to attain power and they are speaking solely with that aim on mind.

Believe Peter Wicks or not but there are some interesting points raised?

Also it has conveniently put the whole Abbott, Pyne, Brough, Bishop and Ashby issue into the background - funnily enough the Thomson saga also has a link to the Ashby / Slipper story.

Perhaps we, especially the pollies and the media,  should take some medication and let due process take its course?

Put yourself in Thomson's position - especially if you have done nothing illegal.

It wouldn't surprise me if Thomson wants to resign and give it all up, but he has some back room Labor thugs with a metorphorical gun to his head telling him if he dares resign or confess the truth his life is as good as over. I think he wants to admit everything but is not being allowed to. It's a typical trait of the ALP and fits their DNA in politics.

I think he has backed himself into a very dangerous corner and now can't escape either way.

Classic case of being the "Master's apprentice" she's screwing the hole country at once, and his doing it whore at a time.
It's about time they started doing something for the people of this great country, they all need to stop bickering and b!tching and get on with implementing some policies not just new taxes.
Pft... "Politics" is the business of talking about things while studying the art of how to avoid actually doing anything.

Well according to one of my workmates its all BS, he's never been able to find a brothel that takes credit cards (and gives them back)

Who's Prime Minister? So we have a different Prime Minister for each political persuasion now do we? Buy the way, the GG was never in "Office", he was appointed by the Prime Minister of the day.
Everybody take a deep breath before you pop a poofer valve. Does all this CT nonesense really matter to the population at large.
I'm sure most people couldn't give a damn. I think most people who were subjected to the workplace harrasement this guy has been subjected to might be taking a trip to a lawyer.
Innocent until proven guilty. Most people subscribe to that ethic, or have we decided otherwise.

Put yourself in Thomson's position - especially if you have done nothing illegal.

Coming from a legal background I agree.  However, being fit to represent his electorate is different to committing a criminal offence.  The big one for me came when he spoke about the garbage tv channel paying the pro to tell all.

Notice he didnt simply say words to the effect of = "go ahead bitch.  Lie and I will sue you.  Because it never happened so you are a liar"

Simple hey.  Instead we get the "are you trying to push me over the edge line"

He should have stood down when the allegations first surfaced as they all should, regardless of which political trough they eat from.

With this attitude anyone could say anything against any politician and then they would have to just stand down even though they may well be completely innocent?

Don't get me wrong - I think in 'this case' that there are way too many questions that are not answered and in 'this case' yes he should step down - but Labor won't let him as that will be the end of them - sooner rather than in 15 months.

But to say that any politician should step down as soon as any allegation is made against them I don't think is fair, unless/until there is overwhelming evidence against them.  However, if they 'know' they are guilty then that is another matter and then yes they should step down immediately.

two+four

Craig Thomson is one of three things
1: Guilty as hell
2: Innocent and therefor completely incompetent
3: Something in between 1 and 2

In any of these cases should he be in public office? in my opinion 'No' but at present he is and he has the right to stay in that office until he found guilty and sentenced to more than a year in prison. If that doesn't happen he can sit in his office for as long as he likes as the laws of the land will keep him safe.

I wonder if the Public servants that have been fired for credit card miss use where charged by the police and went to court? The details in the Fair Work Australia report are not 'allegations' they are 'Findings' they will be allegations if he is charged with them. I may be completely wrong here as I do not have a legal background but that is how I see it.

My 2 cents

I did say 'allegations' - plural.

In other words when there is a heap of stuff then yeah, step down.  You are not admitting guilt just that its better for the govt, or opposition, to remove the distraction.  The other thing is though that they should pair off when it happens to take the political numbers game out of it.

But it is an awful parliament atm.  Wouldnt wont to vote for any of em.
