Caravan parks in Canberra

As we have been invited to a wedding in Canberra towards the end of the year we are looking at taking the camper and making a trip out of it instead of just going down and back for the wedding. So I'm after any info on caravan parks down that way. It will only be for a few days in the C/P then will do some touring around the area with camper.  Thanks

Definitely need a suburb name, Canberra is a bit spread out nth to sth, 45 mins drive one side to the other or thereabouts. Although there is a caravan park that backs into O'conner Ridge, looks the goods, nice setting and is centrally located http://www.canberravillage.com/ . Never stayed there though, have just looked down on it from the ridge when out riding.

The Carotel just as you enter Canberra from the north, we stayed there about 12 months ago and it was pretty quiet. We stayed in the motel section at the front. It looked basic but ok.

I live around the corner from the Carotel, its pretty basic. wldnt stay there in summer though, little to no shade so very exposed to western sun and wind in afternoon - you'll be scorched.

As i said,  basic but ok. I thought the price was pretty good for the motel considering the level of accommodation.

I know a guy who basically lives in his van in Canberra for months at a time, moving every couple of weeks.  His favourite is the showground (EPIC) - it has basic facilities and no extra's at all.  Second favourite is Eaglehawk (north outside of Canberra), third would be O'Connor (Canberra Motor Village) which can get noisy with backpackers.  The Southside one at Narrabundah has a lot of permanents - another friend living there had problems with stuff being pinched, and it has had it's share of violence etc.   The Carotel has had some issues in the past with nearby residents.

You could also consider staying in Queanbeyan (2 parks), or there is one a bit further north of Canberra at Capital Country Holiday Village at Sutton.  It is designed for kids, but is further out of town.

I've now been told the wedding is at Gungahlin.

Gungahlin is on the Nth side.  So you have EPIC, Carotel, Eaglehawk and Canberra Motor village. EPIC is the closest to gungahlin (dont think there is anything else out that way), its literally 5-10 mins away max, my only concern with that place is that the camp sites seem to be either on the Flemington Rd side which leads out to gungahlin - traffic along there can be pretty constant (no trucks with air brakes though) or on the Hwy side. Carotel wld be next closest, then Eaglehawk which is off the hwy as  you come in to Canberra from the nth - always seems to be busy, so may well be good. The place in O'conner wld still be my pick as its near a quiet residential area and is surrounded by reserve - but its probably a 15-20 min drive to Gunghalin. May well be pricey too.

Out of all the Northside parks I think that the Capital Country Holiday Village is the better one, Nice & quiet & still only 10 minutes from Gungahlin.
