I copped it a fair bit around 7pm EST last night but only for about 20 mins or so.

Normal.

Site gets busy, can't connect. Many sites have a similar problem. A bigger pipe and faster server cost money.

The response time is not bad for a reasonably popular site.

Hi Lost
I get an "error in application" quite often, what ever that means, but I figure that is because I am totally reliant on my satellite dish getting the internet signal.  An electrical storm, or too heavy cloud, and I am off line for a while.  You are definitely not the only one.

Happened the other evening and last night as well. Not that it worries me  ;D
Next time you login, check down the bottom of the page and see how many users are online.
Eg, Most Online Ever: 245 (April 22, 2012, 08:31:18 PM), most evenings there are about 200+ members online, got no idea how many guests at that time.
ATM(7.16am) there are 63 Guests, 22 Users online, so if there are 200 members online of an evening, there would be a fair lot of Guests as well.
I guess it's a numbers game  ;D

You don't use magic to disappear, all you need is a 4wd & a Swag ;)

Sawed-Off

Have a look at what time it happens. I visit another SMF forum that dies every morning at 7am on the dot. I suspect that is when the server does its backups or something.
