When is a prawn a shrimp?

Having a debate here with no clear winner...... when is a prawn a shrimp and when is a shrimp a prawn???

It's a shrimp when you are overseas and a prawn in Australia.

I googled it for you.  Seems shrimp have a hump on their back and prawns are rounded ... but it's not that simple.

Thx I had thought it was size... But it's not also heard it shrimp was fresh water and prawn was salt.. Not correct. The Americans like to call prawn shrimps however... So I'll continue to call these wee critters prawns regardless of size or origin!

Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can BBQ it, boil it, broil it, sauté it. Dey's uh shrimp kaboob, shrimp creyole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fired, deep fried, Stir fried. Pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, Pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, Shrimp salad, shrimp and potato, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That - That's about it.
