This morning I went for a drive to Atherton from Herberton, there was a Dept of Transport work crew setting up to do some work on the side of the road. This work crew consited of 4 stop and go people and from what I saw 5 workers, 9 people.
They have four work vehicles and they had driven up the Herberton/Atherton range to get to the job site.

When I can home from what I had to do the Dept of Transport workers had erected a new sign, bloody big one too. ;D This sign was warning the traveling public that they were approaching a winding road with a steep decent and a gradient of 10%.  :cup:

Bloody beauty, they have erected the sign on the wrong side of the road and the sign is facing away from the top of the range road, wrong bloody way.

Now remember they all drove up the range( 4 cars and 9 people) to erect the sign, they were all working there and no one picked up that they had stuffed up and put the sign up facing the wrong way on the wrong side of the road. ??? ???

Is this a sign of how the new Queensland government is going to fix Queensland ?

OK, I know what went wrong.
There were 4 stop-and-go people.
There were also 5 workers.

Unfortunately, the 1 Supervisor over the workers couldn't be there. His car couldn't make the steep 10% climb.....
And only he knew how the sign had to be facing.

There is something wrong there, 5 workers I find that hard to believe!
Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

They never mentioned "Can Do it CORRECTLY"  ;D

I cannot picture what you mean?

Going down the hill it is on the left hand side with the wording on the up hill side?

Of course if the sign is just before the crest the same would be valid.

Perhaps an image will help me.

Probably find you got it the wrong way 'round there WilSurf...
It would've been a case of the one worker couldn't be there, & the 5 supervisor figured they always know what they're doing!   :P

Who needs to wonder about the intelligence, there obviously wasn't any intelligence.
You did not mention any shovels, we all know that such people need shovel to lean on so that they can think.  Thinking and standing is two things, and they can only do one thing at a time.

If you are looking at the warning sign you have allready traveled up the range road. The range is behind you.

i have read it and re read the original post and im confused at what was wrong, is the sign upside down? is it at the top of the hill facing oncoming traffic about to head down the hill? or is it facing the traffic coming up the hill?

gronk

I used to work on the local council for a short while a fair few yrs ago...and " some" of the blokes are honest and hard working......if a little underpaid..

I can't understand what the problem is ???..... they were probably told to go to the top of the hill and erect a sign.....which they did...

Now......they may be a bit smarter than you think........when the boss finds out they stuffed up.......they get asked ( or ordered ) to go and fix it.....probably after hrs ( or sat morn ) .......and voila.....theres their overtime for the week  !! ;D

So it is on the wrong side of the crest?

Or is there a descent on the other side as well?

Geoff, the road duggie is talking about is a decent range climb. As I understand it, the sign should have been facing drivers at the top of the range as they're about to descend. The road crew however have installed it on the opposite side of the road, facing the other way. So the only people who are going to see the sign warning of a steep range are the people who've just driven up said range...

It's pretty typical of FNQ!!

Cheers!

Fair enough.

I found the situation a bit hard to visualise as I do not know the road or how FNQ operates.

This is similar to what they say elsewhere: a work crew came out.
Two guys dug a trench and a third one filled it up again.
Someone of the public asked what they did.
The reply: "We are laying a new phone cable, but the guy who laythe cable is sick"
