:-[ I know I've got a patrol but I've got an oldish 75 ute as well, seems like it's an attack on older makes.... I know they've pulled me over to discuss the ute before, getting on in years now was a comment, but the cab had just been resprayed so.....

JK just thinking that monster of a CT might pull up a smaller wagon, (prado/paj) aren't they about 1.7/1.8t ish. Think I'd go 100 series, least it has a bigger donk to start with, otherwise I'd look for a TD6 4.2 GU, both probably would do the job, stuff the joking it's what works, just the GU's are getting on in years too.

How much stuff can you swap from the 62 to a newer cruiser, maybe that will help decide what model.

Best of luck, Paul

GeeTee.................he said a lot.............but all I heard was blah blah blah  ;D ,

Paul and Bren.........the Cape York Camper is 1.5t fully loaded, but I'm a firm believer in having too much power and not too little  >:D . This looking process is set to take quite a while me thinks  ;D .

I can't believe the prices that some of the 100 series are holding, saw an 06 for $66000,.........boy Toyota's sure do hold their value.

JK,

And there i was thinking you were drunk when you called me, i got off the phone  and said to lara "that was JK he's selling the crusier" to which she said "yeah right" as she walked off.

I am stunned too but when it's time it's time,

If the time was now for me I would find it hard to go past a YES WAIT FOR IT ..a 4.8 GU. for my mind these are one of the most underated vehicals for sale in Aust. unfortunatley they have stopped production ,but good 2nd hand ones are on offer.

4.5 100series is next best IMHO , UNLESS you have the 50-60K 2nd hand then a 4.2 factory T/D 100 would be my pick. good luck mate .

Not that familiar with QLD regs, but how hard would it be to get the 62 engineered / certified John?? Other than that, I hear Ssangyong are making some nice cars these days.

Don't do it mate, just swap the stuff over get it sorted then swap it back! You know you can't sell the old girl!

Whatever you buy you will be disappointed, only due to the fact it would take you years and a lot of money to get back half of what you had.

Put the call out to the myswag family for a working bee at your house to get it all swapped over, it'll be a blast and make the job smaller for you.

What do you reckon yours would be worth to someone.......I saw a very nice white 62 today and **** it looked good, it made me think of yours and this thread. My solicitor mate, who is 70 and going strong, drives a pimping 4.2(Nissan) <Edit> not sure what year......but pretty old and he wouldn't sell it for love or money. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I reckon yours would look pretty good to some...................

Cheers Nomad.

We too owned a 60 series Cruiser (88 model) diesel, GXL, etc etc.  We have missed her many many times since we sold her.  We have at times thought about buying another and doing upgrades, etc, but decided that the technology is old now and as much as  we missed our old girl, we want the more current technology.

Good luck with finding a replacement that you will be just as happy with.

Cheers

Rang a guy today ( waiting for him to get back to me ) about certifying the body blocks, but there's no point changing the tyres and then changing them back because, for one, I wasn't given a green slip forcing me to present the vehicle to the Transport Inspectors ( was just told to down size ), and two, this clown is local, so the chances of us crossing paths again are fairly high. If he catches me a second time he has already stated I'm up for $300 in fines and a court appearance ( and was told if that happens expect the judge to use a "big stick"  >:(  ).

The stupid thing is that he told me 33in tyre are still illegal at the moment ( until the Australia wide modification laws come into affect ) but he lets them go because once the laws change they will be legal, so he turns a blind eye to one illegal tyre size but enforces the other  ??? ................go figure.

If I get the body blocks passed then I'll be putting the old girl up for sale, as I said earlier this selling and buying process may take a while.

Thanks Daz & Bullfrog for the kind offer but it would all be in vain unfortunately  :'( . Becides I couldn't keep the beer up to your pair if I tried   ;D

Sometimes even I will put my stubbie down to help a mate. Good blokes are hard to find these days, got to look after those we do find. Thankfully, the Swag seems to be a collection point for 'em.

What about a nice clean 100 IFS with the 2UZ V8. My boss has one, with pacemaker headers and 3" system it sounds horn and has the ponies to match the noise. the 5 speed auto is so nice to drive, just smooth and effortless. Smart auto too so it down changes when you give the picks a good stab. We both bought 100's within a few weeks of each other, mine is a TD GXL 01 with the old, but reliable, 4 speed auto 220kms, his is a Sahara 03 with 165kms and the 5 speed auto. We both paid 35k for them. mine was in better nick inside and out but only just but he got a lot more standard fruit with the Sahara. He's since added LPG and this has brought his economy to pretty close to the diesel on cost/litre. That said....he drives it like it is stolen.

I bought the TD because that what suits my needs for long term touring while towing but the V8 with LPG is getting mighty close to being able to do the same remote touring. Maybe the towing part would let it down if you were grey nomads but for a daily that can tour, I'd pick the V8 simply due to how good it is... and that awesome rumble with a good exhaust.

I had to drop off some fleet mine vehicles today for Toyota servicings , got to use the trip as an excuse to look at the new FJ series Landcruisers, some nice paint jobs out there.

Is it just me or does ugly become nice/ desirable  the more you look at them.

I can see the retro influence in the new design and I liked the old landcruisers.  I see them as kind of ugly yet I want/ desire one.

Landcruiser is Landcruiser end of story ( I want one).

Yeah, know what you mean....I have the same feeling about Angelina Jolie......but I'd kick her out of bed for a new FJ.
