2 things I loved about the recovery...
First was the awesome use of the towball.............. Gotta be a contender for the Darwin Award there.. They we using rope???
Secondly, they obviously couldn't coordinate the recovery when both GQs were in tandem..... U go, I go, u go, I go...just ridiculous.  Should have their trucks SIEZED and impounded for stupidity alone.

Cheers

Poor guys. Just takes a bit of soft sand on the waters edge and bam you're stuck. Lowering tyre pressure isn't going to help in that situation, the incoming tide is just going to send them deeper. Brave of the GQs to try and get them out and managed to rescue at least one.

Very easy to sit on the net and call them idiots etc but I would imagine they have been launching there jet skis from the beach with no dramas and unfortunately this time had some bad luck. Not knowing something doesn't make you an idiot or moron

Getting stuck happens to all of us, often when we make a little mistake.    However it when the ignorant undertake recovery operations that people die.    Not knowing something is OK.  What's dangerous is not knowing that you don't know.

I helped some blokes stuck on Morton who got bogged trying to get there jet ski out of the water, problem was they had 2 jet skiis on a tandem trailer and instead of getting one on the trailer then moving 5 feet down the beach to avoid that sinking feeling they tried to get both jet skiis out from the one location and the waves just eroded the sand beneath them in the time it took to load both, they were freaking out, snatched them out by doubling my snatch strap up (only 8000kg) and givin it the berries.

bystanders were amazed how easy it came out, LOL

I always carry a knife in my center console incase you get stuck at the end of a taught snatch strap, at least then you can cut yourself free and get pulled out by someone else, scary undoing a bow shackle that is under tension by a snatch strap!!

I have to say that IF I had been there and employed the tips that I have learnt, that I would have been extremely unpopular.  :-[

Best tip ever is - When in doubt break out the billy and make a cup of tea. This allows time for the best decision making.

Can you imagine the Arabic reception to that little strategy?  ;D

Still I do feel sorry for these guys. Hopefully no tow ball turned into a missile and wiped anyone out.

The Missus has just tried to made me promise to drive past any situation like this. I'm not sure I could to be honest. I reckon I'd have to stop and offer help but I'd make it pretty clear that I'm not about to put my vehicle in danger of being damaged or written off.

Cheers - Wayne
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

Lowering tyre pressure isn't going to help in that situation.....

I have to disagree with this comment... Those tyres do not look to be lowered, and reducing the tyre pressure is the cardinal rule of driving in sand. Lowering tyre pressure will help in mud and rock also.
