Hi,
  in my searching for camper trailers I came across this site.  Very impressed with the information on here and will no doubt spend way to much time reading through a heap of threads.
  Probably like most new joiners, I'm looking to start out in the world of camper trailers.  We are a family of 5 with 3 kids ranging from 9 to 14 and us olds are getting a bit tired of sleeping on the ground in the tent.   I think I am looking for a CT that can sleep 3 to 4 of us most of the time as 1 or 2 kids like to sleep in our smaller tent.   We rarely have all the kids in the main tent but will need a large enough CT tent to squeeze 5 in for overnight stops or big storms.  I really don't want the hassle of a Taj Mahal setup with multiple rooms so would be happy with just a single room and a decent size awning.  Quick packup time is a must.
Hoping to keep the budget to around $5k or less and would be more than happy with a pre-loved unit.  Much reading and research still to do

Welcome to the forum.  Yep, just keep looking. In 2009 we were just thinking about a camper trailer when we saw an ad in our local paper. We went and had a look and that was it, bought it. We didn't even have a vehicle to tow it!  We have now done about 55,000 kilometres in it and just love the life style. The camper was a 2005 model and looked like new. (A bit different now, has a Kimberley red shade.) The best part was that the original owners had done heaps to the camper, including a king size innerspring mattress fitted, and so we did not have to do much for our travels.  So there is a camper out there for you.  Have fun looking.

Looking is half the fun. Although I have ordered my camper I can't stop looking at all the on-line campers for sale. It has become a habit I'll find hard to break.

Beware the huge tent in your search. Anything bigger than 10' is generally much heavier and consequently harder to put up and put away. A lot of folks find their older kids migrate to a small tent or swags, which can be cheaper and more effective over time anyway. You can squeeze four kids in a 9' tent, especially if the smaller ones use a set of bunks.

24 hours is a long time....
Had a look at Aussie Jays in Willimstown after seeing that he had a 2nd hand trailer mentioned on the Pajero forum.
Deal done. Got a Semi off road with kitchen, toolbox, watertank and will be putting a new 9' tent on it.  Happy with the price and Jason and Rebeckah were a pleasure to deal with. 
The 9' seems way easier to handle and will fit the 3 kids for quick overnight stops. Picking it up Saturday. 

got it a bit sooner than I expected but pretty sure it will be all good.  We won't be venturing too far off road so happy with the semi off road suspension.

Camper happily setup in the backyard. Very quick to put the main room up.  Great size for overnighters.  Annexe took a while to put up but mostly due to sorting out poles and spreader for the first time and working out how to zip the canvas on.
I put the walls and floor or the annexe but unlikely to use these unless camping for a week or 2 at a time.  Might leave these at home.
Very happy with the unit so need to start doing some mods.
- need to swap the LED trailer lights to bulbs as the Disco 3 keep pulsing the indicators (suspected it would)
- 12v power (battery, fusebox, charger, voltmeter, ammeter etc etc)
- Led internal and annexe lights (with dimmers)
- electric water pump
- other......

Gday ashes, welcome mate. Like your choice of camper You'll do well in an Aussie Jays. Excellent bit of kit IMHO. By the sounds of your post on the thread about the break in at their factory you were lucky to pick it up at all.
