Finally had a day to look around for some camping gear and gear for the cruiser.

Gear wanted for the cruiser are shockies, air bags for the rear, roof rack, high lift jack, deep cycle battery,

First stop ARB to get an indication of what to expect. The shockies price I sort of expected as with the air bags but roof racks holy moly starting at $1100. I thought I will see what TJM can offer !! Well the shockies are comparable as with the air bags but I stood looking at the sales person when he said the roof rack is $1600 plus extra for the fitting gear. WTF !!!

Stunned I left and surfed my new best website ( evil bay ) and can get a steel roof rack delivered to Cairns for around $500. It's looks ok so it's on my list.

I regretfully will be buying on the web which it seems this is the way to try and save on the prices.

I have 3 months to get everything sorted before the Cape but I know time will fly.

I feel your hurt Mark. it's unfortunate but the interwebby thingo is here to stay for those who have time to wait for delivery. I'm looking for shocks at the moment and that is what I'm getting seeing their prices at the shops.
Zordo has some good prices for shocks though. Give him a looksee. http://zordos4wdsuspension.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&Itemid=56. He's in Brisvegas but I'm sure would post or courier.
I'm looking at the Tough Dog 45mm at the moment and seeing if the hip pocket is fat enough.

Freight is a killer as the gear I want is 'heavy'

(some of the prices with freight added were same as retail here)

Mark, most of the gear on my Cruiser is 2nd hand off eBay or here or other forums and websites.

Have a look at the Tigerz11 alloy racks, sweet! ARB steel is terrific, on my third one, but they're heavy.

Mark there is a thread with links to a supplier for buying airbags from the US on LCool in the 100 series section, pretty sure Firestones to suit a 2 inch lift are $180 delivered to your door.

In regard to the ebay roof racks, google it, there are a lot of unhappy campers out there with rust runs all down their roofs beacuse of the poor finish on them.  Best look on LCool and your local gumtree etc for a second hand brand name rack.
