No we have been volunteered to hold my wife's Grandfathers 95th birthday. Apparently we are half way for everyone.

The good side of that is I can get along to the caravan and camping show.

The wife wants to compare the Ultimate and the Trak Trailer - a long term plan not in the short term.

The Breakaway Twin Rivers is a great spot BD.  We stayed there last Cup Weekend with 5 other families (11 kids all up). Good spot for the kids to roam in the gangs they naturally form in a caravan park.  Taggerty has a great little farmers market (although you only need 10 mins to see everything), the Catheral ranges are just down the road and Alexandra seems to have something going on most long weekends (like the truck and ute festival around the Queens Birthday weekend) .

But 20 hours of trout fishing delivered nothing except an empty lure wallet.  I was led to believe that we would be feasting on the things all weekend.  Maybe I'll have better luck next Cup weekend.

Beechworth for labour day weekend with my brother and his family.  Never been there before. Any local knowledge out there, I hear the Bakery is pretty good.

I'm actually doing the opposite.  I'm coming home for the long weekend after spending a few weeks in the glorious west.  I think I'll just camp at home with the kids!
SWMBO made me do it (whatever it was I did)!
VW Amarok & 'Cooper' the Tambo.

Thanks GU.  My son (9 yo) is fascinated by Ned Kelly, so this could be a goer.

Brickimatt,  I did the Marley Point a couple of times when I was a kid.  It's a ripper of a race.   I hope you get a rippin westerly so that you get a good run with the kite.  It's a great sight with all the kites up across Wellington, although a bit tricky through the Mclennans Strait.  Best of luck.

Cheers

Thanks JB. This will be my 10th Marlay. I sail it with my dad on his 23 foot Ultimate. It is a great race, tho funny you should mention ripping westerlies. Last year the wind just died half way across Lake Wellington. Made to the straits about 2am! Then the current was running against us. Decided about dawn to start the motor, our first DNF >:( We weren't alone tho....three quarters of the fleet gave up!! Only thing worse than sitting on a yacht with no wind is sitting around a campfire with no beer :'(

Enjoy Beechworth mate. The bakery is a ripper. Great pies and awesome puss boxes (vanilla slice)!!!

Cheers
