Hi all. We've started building our electrical system in the camper, it consist of 100amp battery and Ctek 15 amp charger to feed 40L engel, a couple led lights and a 12v shower. We have a 1kva Honda generator that we purchased last year.  A few people are saying I should've bought a 2kva and I will regret not having the extra power available for the couple extra hundred $. We don't use the generator except for camping. What are your thoughts? have you bought a 1kva but wished you bought a 2kva?

As long as you 1kVA can power your Ctek charger I don't see why you'd need a 2kVA.

Mine is a small little 850 it runs the fridge in the day for a few hours on and off (more like 3 hours all day tops) main battery in the patrol at night till about 11-12ish then I unplug till the morn, been doing it for yonks with no drama. All our light are recharge portable LED so they recharge in the day off the Genny. Father in-law came out with us one trip and it ran the 40l Engel plus his two fridges in his camper van. I cannot see why ,me personally that I would need anything bigger. I'm keen to hear what people are using their 2kva for, surely you cannot possibly be using it to the max?????????
I say you buy what you need/afford if the 1kva is working for you who gives a s@it what somebody else says.

Thanks guys. I think they were refering to using it at home in case of blackouts etc to run household appliances.  The 1kva will be more than enough for what we intended to use it for (Camping - to charge batterys)

No dramas?    Midnight's a bit late to run a generator at a camp you're sharing with others.

I think you need to re-read the post (this time adjust your comprehension hat a little)  ;D
