The motorsport.com website reported that Karginov's truck drove over the spectator's left leg and quoted Kamaz team boss Vladimir Chagin as saying the exclusion was "very harsh".

In the drivers defense the spectator was in an unauthorized area and it was the back wheel of the truck which contacted the spectator. With the rough terrain the driver wouldn't have even noticed it.

Could have done with alittle less pressure in his Nikes, bigger footprint and he might have gotten out of his deer in headlights induced bog.

Well the 2019 Dakar has been run and won by no other than Toby Price  . A fantastic effort with a badly injured wrist.

Of the 6 Australians competing, 4 made it to the end.

That's fantastic.
I'm guessing it won't be too hard to get a Toyota in that same spec for yourself, just like you can with Toby's winning bike...

Well the 2019 Dakar has been run and won by no other than Toby Price  . A fantastic effort with a badly injured wrist.

Of the 6 Australians competing, 4 made it to the end.

To put it in context, he didnt win any stages except the last day, just super consistent riding each stage, with that fractured wrist. Just an amazing effort.

You can actually get something very close to the spec of Toby's bike and also the Toyota.

The Toyota can be had from Overdrive Racing in Europe as they build them under licence  for Toyota South Africa who actually design them.

I knew the bike was reasonably easy to put together.

I was having a dig at Rumpig for claiming bragging rights on the badge that happened to be stuck on the front of the winners car.

But yes, for €220,000.00 you can buy a well used buggy made of pretty much no Toyota parts except for the badge on the bonnet.

Haven't seen if the 200 series ended up winning it's class, it was looking the goods 2 days ago last I saw of it...think Toyota have won that class the previous couple of years.

I find myself wondering whether Toby Price might have been forced to go fast, but conservatively, taking as few risks as possible due to the pain in his wrist. His innate talent and a conservative mindset might have been what got him through.
The bloke behind him busted a gut to catch up the one minute or so in the final leg that Price had and came a cropper in the process. Food for thought about consistency Vs outright speed.

There is some rule that the engine has to be production based from the manufacture of the vehicle. Not sure which Toyota has a 5 litre V8 in it?

Some of the bigger Lexus's (so Toyota-ish) have a 5L V8. Not really relevant to the ute, but since when that mattered in motorsport.

The 2UR-GSE is a 5.0 L; 303.2 cu in (4,969 cc) naturally aspirated V8 engine fitted to the Lexus IS-F, RC-F, GS-F and LC 500. It is an all-alloy DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder with Yamaha-designed high-flow cylinder heads, titanium inlet valves, high-lift camshafts and dual-length intake. It has D4-S gasoline port and direct injection, Dual VVT-i with electric VVT-iE inlet camshaft actuation. Bore and stroke is 94 mm × 89.5 mm (3.70 in × 3.52 in). The engine has a redline of 7300 rpm.

In the IS-F the engine had an 11.8:1 compression ratio and produced 310 kW (416 bhp; 421 PS) @ 6,600 rpm and 51.3 kg?m (371 lb?ft; 503 N?m) @ 5,200 rpm of torque. In the RC-F and GS-F the compression ratio was increased to 12.3:1 and output 348 kW (467 bhp; 473 PS) @ 7,100 rpm and 53.8 kg?m (389 lb?ft; 528 N?m) of torque at 4800-5600 rpm. The engine received a further increase in power to 351 kW (471 bhp; 477 PS) @ 7100 rpm and 55.1 kg?m (399 lb?ft; 540 N?m) of torque at 4800 rpm in the LC.
