I'm guessing that most here are following the motocycles...

I more follow the cars, would love more coverage of the trucks however

KingBilly

The occupants on those trucks must finish each day with a king sized headache.  Gees, their heads bounce and shake in every direction.

Agree, they must have special abilities, regarding their necks

If you like Dakar and adventure riding, keep your eyes out for this

Fire up the BBQ and set aside 1 hour for 4 Saturday afternoons in mid January to early February 2017 to watch the 4 part mini series Beyond Siberia & Beyond Sahara; a documentary that follows 2 groups of bikers as they tackle some of the most remote riding destinations on earth.

7 Mate Viewing schedule

14th, 21st & 28th January at 3:30pm / 4th February Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide at 5pm and Perth at 3pm.

BEYOND SIBERIA – RIDING THE ROAD OF BONES

what'd ya think of it?....I thought it was ok, but they didn't show enough of the country they were going through for my liking. They seemed to show heaps about the Aussie whinging he couldn't have a beer, or how often local police were holding them up etc, where they could have concentrated more on the scenery on the ride IMHO. Hopefully the next episode is better.

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa has a new unsung hero.

Joey Evans was paralysed from the waist down 10 years ago during a motorbike rally, but this year he competed in and completed the 2017 Dakar Rally.

The 41-year old had to learn how to walk again, and how to ride a bike.

Just as he was on his way to realising his dream he crashed again -- this time into a cow.

That did not deter Evans and after recovering from his injuries he continued racing, and finally qualified for the Dakar Rally.

Another challenge he faced was having to raise more than R1-million to compete in the most gruelling motorsport contest in the world.

Evans made it to Argentina, but before he reached the finish line he had another accident.

However, good fortune was on his side and he finished the Dakar in 93rd place out of 96 competitors.

Keeping an eye on the battle between the Peugot buggies and the Hilux's. Then dunes for the first couple of days will favour the buggies but then it will be a on watching the Hilux's chase down the time they lost on the first couple of days.

Only up to day two and already some big crashes!

A spinal injury has forced reigning motorcycle class winner Sam Sunderland out of the event, while Yamaha claimed a 1-2 on the stage that put France's Adrien Van Beveren into the lead.

Toby Price lost 13 minutes on the Yamaha rider but now sits sixth overall, just 10 minutes adrift, after his five minute penalty was rescinded by officials.

In the car category, Peugeot's Sebastien Loeb raced to his first stage win of 2018 but the day was a disaster for Toyota, with chief challenger Nasser Al-Attiyah losing almost an hour.

Al-Rajhi has now left the event after he abandoned the 8th stage.

:'( :'( :'( I thought they were tougher than a little rain stoppin em :(

AKAR Rally organisers have decided to cancel Stage 9 of the event on safety grounds.

The ninth stage of the event was set to comprise a 755km trek from Tupiza in Bolivia to Salta in Argentina, including a 242km competitive section.

Heavy rains have impacted the rally since it arrived in Bolivia late last week, with the weather turning areas of the overnight bivouac at Tupiza to mud.
