After watching this all week, being a surfer it gave me the willies a bit then this morning at back beach angourie the was a very very close call!! Can't add the photo off my iPhone but will do later on the pc. Foot wide bite out of his board just as he stood up and moved his leg from where the bite went. No doubt in the news tonight/tomorrow

DANBRI

Yep, I was out spearfishing yesterday - water temp is low at the moment and overcast skies made it grey. I was uncomfortable, thinking about all the "Port Stephens juvenile Great White breading ground" talk...  :-[

I haven't seen a White while spearfishing yet, I know they're around though.

Nomad

F that Flemo,

So was he catching a wave when it happened? Bloody lucky guy. Could lost his knee.
12 ft tiger shark caught got caught in the lines yesterday at Sunshine Beach.

I just go back to that old thought that you re more likely to be hit by a bus.........not much comfort but at least it keeps your mind off it.

Cheers

Just as he stood up he got knocked off his board, pulled the legrope in and "oh Shit". No waves coming and had to paddle in. If it hit 2 seconds earlier it would have bit at about thigh position I recon.

You are mad mate. Watch this again to remind yourself and then take up archery and buy your fish from the co-op.  ;D

Did they have the episode where the fella swims with the great whites freestyle and then strokes the tiger shark into a catatonic state?

Been wanting to watch it again.

There are 10 times as many people every year who die from falling coconuts as there are people who are attacked by sharks.

Duchess

Truth be told...there are probably 10 times more kids bitten by a pet dog each week than people who are bitten by some random shark.

I enjoyed that, although alot of people may think "YOBBOS"  if the state and fed govt spent some dollars supporting guys like this they would have more shark stats in a year than our govt could get in 5 with a coupple mill of taxpayers dollars.

I agree, there was a subsequent fishing closure placed on Stockton Beach which banned gear that could be used to catch sharks with in days of this footage being posted. I don't think even the researchers new they were there until it was highlighted by these guys.

Typical story , instead of working with people the govt just shuts them down. now they wil spend millions of taxpayers $$$ on shark research. And probably get the fishos to patrol the beach for guys who were doing the right thing in the first place.

Self protective bueracrices will be the end of this great country , there sending us broke. Funny thing is those guys would have had to buy thier tags just like I do, thier own fuel ,fishing gear ect , if they took 10 young boys out and taught them to catch and release and use your skills for good and help to make sure future generations could enjoy our marine envir. then maybe just maybe we will still have a marine ecosystem in 50years . At our current rate we too will fishing in deserts like they do in some counrties.

Thats my rant over and back to normal programming now LOL ;D
