I know this has probably been done to death, but I'm trying to decide between a Engle 60L and a ARB 60L.I have a old 30 L Engle approx 20 years old and it doesn't miss a beat but i like the look of the ARB line and they have a good deal ATM,just cant decide. This fridge will ride/live in the trailer, any help or experiences would be great.

Yer it probably has been done before ..but who cares that's what forums like this are for.My experience is with Engels so i,m a bit biased however i believe the only difference between the Engel and the ARB is the outer casing.I,m sure I,ll be corrected if I,m wrong but I dont think you,ll go to far wrong with  either of them.

I'd look at the best fit for the size you have. There's just so little between, not only these two, but a host of others these days. I like some for of voltage cut out so that wold count in favor maybe plus the actual size, space etc. I also like those that have a dairy compartment for butter and salad stuff as it seems to last well in there.

have been searching the forums to see if anyone else has posted, however in today's paper was the latest Techni Ice Catalogue...what caught my eye was the fridges they were now selling.  12/24V or Mains Power fridge/freezers.
60L for $599...
anyone used one or considered one?

frogman,
Sorry i'm not much help to you.
We have absorption fridges, 90lt 3 way in the camper, 50lt Chescold, great for long stays,  33lt Finch as a portable.

I can see the advantages of a 240/12V.

We live with what we have.

No brainier.
Go the ARB one, you wont look back.
I have had both Engel 40L (few yrs ago) and recently the 47L ARB fridge.
So many reasons to get the ARB it's not funny. Some are the aust wide support at any ARB store for repairs. Low power consumption and soft start to protect the battery. Moulded interior with no gaps unlike the engel and it's cooling plates. Great price with free cover till Xmas promo. Exact temp control. Engel 60/80L have had some bad runs by some in long term longevity.
Get the ARB.
