Well it's about to happen, a fellow 'Perth 4X4' member has phoned me to ask assistance to drag his Delica 4WD out of a bogged situation in the bush near Busselton

He has said a V8 Totota  could not free him yesterday  :'(

he had to leave the vehicle bogged there last night and here in Busso it's been raining pretty heavy so it may be a bit of a risk posting this now even before I've seen the problem.

Will take a few photo's when I get there in an hour  ;D

A Ssangyong Actyon will soon be a Toyota recovery vehicle   ;D ;D

yep I screwed up the terminology, the Delica is definitely a Mitsubitcheee  ;D

Well I took the owner out to his Delica, thinking it was on a track somewhere out of town in the sand hills

and I find it beside a tar road, was out of town just a few K's, but bogged with the chassis sitting on the dirt, when he got in and started it up, it could spin the diagonally opposite 2 x wheels in '4wd' @ idle, back left/front right, I thought all wheels would turn in a 4wd ??

I was now starting to understand why the twin turbo V8 Toyota could not shift it

Well the thought was there, I did attempt to do a good turn for a fellow 4wd owner

Hope it gets returned some day when I need it

P.S.  1 hour there, 1 hour back ... 15 minutes saying "yep she's stuck alright ... ever heard of RAC?" ... the rest of it they were at the pub for lunch I'll bet.

Please explain ????????  ???if the 2 diagonally wheels spin then it is in 4x4 mode, if all 4 wheels are spinning then he has a diff lock. and why could'nt a cruser pull him out ????? ??? ??? ??? just asking
There is no problem that cannot be solved by the use of high explosives.

The chasis was sitting on the dirt with all four (4) wheels off the ground

No, not all 4 spin in 4wd unless you have diff locks
2 opposites spinning means all is good in 4wd land

Sorry, I don't, a decent snatch strap and a shovel should see it pop out gently

As in red..... A cruiser should have pulled that out, but I wasn't there and don't understand the circumstances so I won't comment, but as far as the wheels turning etc, a 2wd should only ever turn 1 front and 1 rear wheel unless there are lockers involved.

techo stuff aside, good on you for going to help........

I'm guessing the cruiser couldn't get decent traction?

I am guessing the Toyota could not pull it out because the cray pot rope being used as a bridle kept snapping :police:  I hate to think what that was tied to  ::)

No, was very suitable rope, the same rope was used by both Toyota's and no breakage encountered by either, they just could not get traction, even when they were on the tar road

Was plenty of traction available, the V8 cruiser had left black marks on the tar road when it was attempting to drag the Delica from the mud :'(

As I posted "I find it beside a tar road, out of town just a few K's, but bogged with the chassis sitting on the dirt" Another friend came out in his cruiser this arvo and we tried snatch strapping again, but failed again :'(

Ended up finally winching it out.

Burnsy

When bellied like that Mainey it is best to crack out the highlift and shovel.  Clear the track in front a bit so it isn't bulldozing, lift it up to break the suction and put some logs under the wheels then a gentle snatch will usually do.  Snatching a vehicle bellied in mud is just asking for trouble in my books.
