Hey Jillsy, are you guys (sorry, you're Queenslanders) are YOUSE guys camping at the track? How is it noise wise from other campers (p!ss-heads) and space and facilities? Am contemplating going there and staying maybe in the motorhome part.

Hope you have a top day tomorrow. Should be a blast! Hopefully the weather will behave.
Hey POD
No not camping at track - staying  with a friend who lives 20 minutes drive away :D
Campers appear to be having a ball!

Did you see that the fire didn't start at the car? I am wondering what would have been hot enough to start it where it did?

Didn't he prang it bad off the end of conrod straight the other year? If not him, can anyone remember who it was?

Maybe part of the rear brakes.. battery or even the cabling that runs a long the concrete barrier
apparently the camera man and his gear were sprayed with fuel

Yeah, saw that on the lens of the camera. I was wondering if it was the hot brakes but seeing as he'd only just come out of pit lane, I am surprised that the brakes were that hot already! I guess the rotors are still hot and not just the pads?

Are they not using a pure ethanol any more though? Have they gone back to a petrol mix?

I thought the splash on the camera lens was water from the tyre wall.

Ah...thanks for that. :D Well, amazing to see how it burns and at least it does have a visible flame when it does...good safety that even if it was alight. Had to admire the marshalls who went in with extinguishers blazing so to speak!!

The commentators are reporting that it was fuel (and I certainly could believe that seeing how much did get dumped on the track) and seeing as it was their cameraman, I guess they'd know. *shrugs*

I worked with a few different supercar teams and use to change the left rear tyre with a full fire suit on just in case the guy refueling
splashed fuel over the top of me and the rear rotors
there would be 2 fire marshals right behind me
they do an awesome job
