I got this quote from Makin Mattresses/Adelaide today

A king siesta can be made at a minimum thickness of 170mm for $499

This would be a good option for a camper trailer

Is this a fair price for an inner spring mattress for a CT, does anyone know of anywhere else in SA that makes/sells inner spring mattresses for a CT ???

Brett,

Ours came from Ikea at $199 and serves the purpose well. Just take your measurements in and they will find one that fits.

Sounds a bit exxy for me. We too are in Adelaide and looking for a Queen Inner Spring.

Perhaps we can get a better deal for 2  ???

I paid $499 for a QS inner spring from a bed shop. Didn't shop around. It was too thick despite the best of plans, so it went back and they had a thinner one made for the same price. It has the 'pillow top' that makes it look like it would be more comfortable than one without - don't know if it really works that way.

Just spoke with SWMBO, sugested to ring Lecornu, she saw them advertised down there for as low as $109.

Thats a lot better price, is yours comfy (my back is not the best) and how thick is it ???

Edit:
Might check out both Le Cornu and Ikea

$499 is the same price MM charge for their normal king size Siesta (medium/firm) mattress ???

Bubba,

My back is not always the greatest of friends wih me either.  Plenty comfy, better than the home bed I rekon.  Not sure on the thickness, am at work at the moment, but they had a variety of thicknesses there.

If you aren't in a great rush, Greys online auctions often has mattresses for auction with Australia wide delivery.
These have been top brands going for less than $200 at times and include pillow tops etc. Some are pick up in different states, others are delivered for around $70 +/-

May be worth a look.

We replaced our mattress with a standard inner spring which was about 220mm thick, ended up being too thick and made packing up the CT a PITA.

We ended up buying a Q size 150mm thick innerspring from Makin Mattresses in Albury for $300 inc GST.  Was able to try out the different mattresses they have, etc.  We bought what they call their Motel version which is reasonably firm without lots of padding.  We use a sheeps wool underlay which gives a bit more padding anyway.

Recieved the quote from Vanrest yesterday

Hi Brett,

Thankyou for your enquiry.

The picture on the website is a Kimberley Camper. We can make any size and shape you want.

I need the finished size you wish the mattress to be. These prices are for a normal King size (1830 x 2030).

We make two different types of mattresses suitable for camper trailers.

The Perfect Camper mattress and the new Re-Creation mattress.

The Perfect Camper Standard mattress we make is a non turn mattress with a
breathable poly base cloth, it has a low profile tempered steel spring with
a fire retardant cotton cover, the price is $385.00. Finished height is
12cm.

The Perfect Camper Elite mattress has a thick damask cover and is $550.00.
14cm finished height.

The Perfect Camper Elite p/top mattress has a thick damask cover with 10 yr
guarantee foam in the p/top and is $675.00.
17cm finished height.

Both styles of mattress are single sided.

The Re-Creation range of mattresses are made with the Pascal cassette
spring.

The Re-Creation is flexible and more light weight.

The Re-Creation Comfort is $610.00 (finished depth 100mm), the Re-Creation
Plush is $685.00 (finished depth 120mm) and the Re-Creation Ultimate is
$770.00 (finished depth 160mm).

I have attached a flyer about our new Re-Creation mattresses for you to have
a look at.

All mattresses are made to order and take 7 to 10 working days to be ready
for pick up from the factory.

Please do not hesitate to call if you have any further questions.

With Regards,
Annette Adams

We purchased a queen size mattress from Makin Mattresses..It was one up from the Motel Model @ $360 mark....well worth it. It was custom made to 160mm or there abouts, we tried a number of others from other stores and they just didn't seem to have the support as this one.
