Noisy fridges

Hi

Getting close to buying my first CT.  Now thinking about the fridge scenario.  Was looking at storing the fridge in the back of the CT on rollers near the kitchen like many CT manufacturers do these days.

Main issue I can think of now is the noise they make all night, considering it would be located directly under the bed.

Are there any brands that are noisier or quieter than others?  Do you really hear the fridge in bed?

Noise under the bed has been an issue for me. Engel 60 for the record. It's not real loud, but the "hum" is enough to wake me when it kicks in.

My solution in warmer weather is to just leave it out when safe, and in winter I simply turn it off before closing up - still cold in morning.

Also, I've found a bottle of McLaren Vale  shiraz before bed somehow makes the fridge quieter, though not sure how.......

Just make sure it is on the wifes side of the bed and all is solved

Highly recommend an Autofridge. Working in the eutectic principal, they're run for about 5 hours per day, 3 in the morning & 2 in the evening, or vice versa; therefore no noise at night.

Have a Waeco 35 under the bed and we cant hear it at night

Egg cartons or thin dimply rubber under the bed base to baffle the noise?

When we bought out Camper having a fridge slide under the bed was an option, but I didn't want to spend money on something which I know would have annoyed me with the sound of the fridge cutting in and out all night.

Seeing we restack our fridge every night with warm drinks, just know it's going to be working hard for a couple of hours to cool them down.

everyone is different. If your a light sleeper, they will all annoy you. if not then just do it

Buy a Bushman....problem solved...fridge cycling noise....problems cooling ambient drinks....what's that?

Highly recommend an Autofridge. Working in the eutectic principal, they're run for about 5 hours per day, 3 in the morning & 2 in the evening, or vice versa; therefore no noise at night.

Highly recommend a bottle [or 2] of red wine.

fridge noise drives me nuts, my bloody waeco 110 is like a refrigeration unit on a semi.  I just turn it off at night.  Lost 1 degree overnight last night

Engel 60 under our bed, sometimes hear it hum, but doesn't really bother us.  Not really much different noise wise to having it outside, at least in the trailer the noise is muffled by a sheet of ply and a mattress.  Outside its only muffled by a sheet of canvas.

I have one, very happy with its performance. I dunno if I'd have it under my bed tho'. that said, my Fisher& paykel 440L frost free wizz bag fridge in the kitchen will wake the dead yet I manage to sleep through it.

Highly recommend also. Our 75ltr Auto fridge never runs at night even in FNQ Summer temps due to the Eutectic design. Generally only drops about .5 of a degree overnight. Most efficient fridge on the market also...

Think you will find compressor fridges that have a 'piston' type compressor, up-down stroke, will make more noise than the revolving compressor type compressors where the fan is the noisiest part of the fridge.

The Bushman fridge's audible noise is from the condenser fan @ 35 Decibels.

The only determent to me when I went from the 50litre Waeco to the 40litre Engle was the noiser compressor of the Engle in the tent with us. They can have an annoying hum to them. as Mainey said the Danfoss style compressor is quieter.
