Our friends from the central coast, NSW just rang and told us that their 18 month old Complete Campsite Uluru (13) was stolen last night.

The trailer  rego is V95946, yellow NSW plates and the trailer is in the original hammer tone grey finish. This is the model that has the enclosed storage doors and rear fitted spare tyre.

It is very well equipped with an extension shower/ensuite unit, 60lt Evercool fridge, stainlees steel BBQ, Cobb cooker and lost of other very important items that makes camping comfortable and fun.

How brazen were the theives?  Where was the camper stored when it was taken (front yard, back yard, shed)?

Hope your mate had full insurance.

My guess is that they would be parked in the bush somewhere not far away waiting for the heat to die down because there are only a few roads out of the area which are easy to keep an eye on.  Even if they go cross country they have to come out on one of the main highways somewhere.

I'd suggest they'd be long gone under the cover of darkness.

We are driving to Brisbane via S.A. and NSW this week so I will keep an eye open for it. They are fairly substantial campers so it will be easy to spot.

POD

I know I'm probably a little naive, but what do people do with these campers after they've stolen them? Do they strip them down and use all of the parts on a new trailer or do they remove the compliance plates and VIN and try to re-birth them?

I'd ALWAYS be thinking someone was watching my every move...

Can I suggest they/you also list it on campertrailers.org.au They have a specific stolen section.

Maybe we should set something like that up on here???

Thanks to everyone offering to look out for this quite distinctive CT.

The CT was completely insured but as you all reaslise it is hard to get full contents cover, as such they will be down quite  a few dollars as it had a Honda geney and a lot of other good camping/personal gear, chairs, radio, lights etc, etc on board.

The CT was in a carport off the road , covered by a car cover with the gate locked and the CT padlocked. Both locks were cut and the CT towed away, through the night before anyone knew it was gone!

Whoever stole it knew it was there!
Appears like it was stolen to order.

Just a thought maybe keep an eye on your local services blokes, like garbo's, gas deliveries ect.

Hang the low life scum, sure would stop re-offending >:(

Makes me so mad when I think that something that someone had not only worked hard to get but also would get a huge amount of enjoyment from can be taken by someone !!  As a matter of interest what sort of hitch did it have? I have often wondered if having an off road hitch, eg treg, makes the camp trailer any more secure ??
